Review: I loved this book!! Gaffney did a great job of developing each of the characters. She also does a great job showing the human side of these women (faults included), so they seem like real people. At first it was hard to read, since each chapter is written in the first person from each of the character's viewpoints, but after a while you get used to it. Throughout the book, I found myself wishing that I had friendships like these.

Summary: 4 different voices? - NOT
Review: I liked this book, I really did. The story of the 4 women and their friendship over the years was wonderful and made me long for some of the friends I have lost contact with over the years. you know the ones, those you see again after months or years and it is like you were just together yesterday. That is what the Saving Graces reminded me of. BUT...Ms Gaffney's attempt to have the story told by the 4 main characters in their own voices failed. It was impossible to tell the characters apart without looking to see the title of the chapter. It was very confusing until you got to know the characters. That said, I would recommend this book to other readers and if I needed someting to read I wouldn't hesitate to read it again.

Summary: Slow to start but keep reading . . .
Review: This book was recommended to me by my boss with whom I have a lot in common. The book is great, but is perfect for the 30-something woman, not the 20 something. Regardless of your age, you will fall in love with the characters. The writer truly excels at character development. This is the perfect book for those that have that special group of friends who are all so different but get along because of the differences.

Summary: A Keeper
Review: I didn't know how much I loved this book until I was finished and then read it a second time. I knew the characters better and although I knew the outcome I think I enjoyed it even more. I MADE my friend read it and she in turn gave me a hardcover for Xmas. I don't know if I was twentysomething if I would appreciate this book as much as I do being fortysomething.

Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a great story about 4 friends who stuck together through all their similarities and differences. This is the first book I have read by Patricia Gaffney and will now read some others. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: True Friendship
Review: This story is about a True Friendship between 4 Women that is very hard to find. Emma, Lee, Rudy, and Isabelle are a part of a Women's Group called "The Saving Graces" they meet and talk about thier lives. Each one has their own specific problem. Emma is in love with a married man, Lee wants to have a baby and is having a hard time conceiving, Rudy is married to a controlling bully, and Isabelle is dying from Breast Cancer. They all help each other and stand by each other through thick and thin. I myself would love to be a part of a group like this and I really enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend reading it.

Summary: Perhaps twenty years from now, I can relate...
Review: Are you over 40? Married or divorced? Ever had an affair? Trouble getting pregnant? If you answered "no" to most of these questions, this book may not interest you. As a young twenty-something, I had trouble relating to these four women's lives. I admit, I admired the friendship between these ladies. The book even made me cry. The Saving Graces seemed to be a melancholy bunch, so why is this novel considered a "feel-good" book? I could deal with one or two of the ladies having a bad day, but what about happy times? Is life full of one tragedy after another? I know I'll get slammed for my opinion, but I feel the need to warn my generation. If you're a twenty-something looking for an endearing friendship tale, try Beth Gutcheon's "The New Girls."

Summary: Audio Version Only!
Review: Please keep in mind as you read this review I am referring to the audio version only, not to the book itself. I really enjoyed the book. The audio production however, was pretty awful. Not so much the abridgement of the text, but the voice! Judith Ivey may be a Tony Award winner, but that doesn't necessarily make her fit to do audio book readings. I would much prefer to have a reader use the same voice for all characters and narration as opposed to having someone vary their speech and accent, with disasterous results. I listen to audio tapes while in the bath, and this one was so awful that I had to get out of the tub and drip water all over the bathroom floor in order to turn it off so that I could have a relaxing bath. Please, read the book, but steer clear of the audio production!

Review: This book was like The Yaya Sisterhood, only better ! What a wonderful group of very different women ! The power of friendship, the adversity and suffering. The love and support ! Oh, send me a manfriend like Isobel's, when I am on my deathbed ! This book is definitely a keeper. You will want to read it again, keep it on your library shelf. Add another log to the fire and curl up with this good book, one winter's night !

Review: This book is the best book I have ever read, I picked it up when on vacation, and didn't put it down until I finished about 2 days later. I tried it once before and didn't get into it, it was a bit slow at first, but after the 1st chapter, like I said I couldn't put it down, I wish I could find another book like this.
