Rating: Summary: Very touching Review: I just finished The Saving Graces and it was very good. Not too fluffy or melodramtic at all. Of course the group had "big" problems, but if it was too close to everyday life (at least mine), it would have been boring. You may not see yourself or your friends as one of the characters entirely, but you may recognize parts of each one of them. I thought it was interesting that the women were so different while being such close friends. Each one admired and learned from the different qualities of the others. I also thought it was interesting that they were a bit older when they met (not high school or college buddies). It made me want to call my friends. It's so easy to lose touch once marriage and kids come along. This book encouraged me to try harder. I rushed through the book because I wanted to see what happened and now I miss the Saving Graces. I may have to read it again.
Rating: Summary: MY FAVORITE BOOK EVER! Review: The Saving Graces is by far my favorite book of all time! And trust me I've read many many books. It's a beautifully written story about the friendship of four charming woman. The story was so inspiring. I'm sure everyone who read this wished they had friendships as strong as those woman-Isabel, Emma, Lee, and Rudy. I know you will fall in love with the charectors, and be sad when the book is over and you have to leave them. I read it for the first time in September and so far 12 of my friends have read it. They have all given it a 5 star rating. This is an especialy great book for any female soul. Ages 13-97! This is definatly a priceless book that I will treasure forever. Please do yourself a favor and read it! Trust me, its totally worth it.
Rating: Summary: The Saving Graces Review: The true test of a great book for me is 1.) I read it too late into the evening/early morning 2.) I can't want to share it with my mother, daughter, sister and best firend and 3.) I can't put the story out of my mind. The Saving Graces met all three criteria. Enjoy and share it with a friend.
Rating: Summary: Why Did I Wait So Long To Read This Book? Review: All my friends told me I'd love THE SAVING GRACES, but I simply didn't get around to it until recently. What a treat! I read the book in two sittings, and still, a week later, find myself thinking about it. What wonderful characters. What a great story. A real triumph!
Rating: Summary: reviewing other books Review: I can't review THE SAVING GRACES because as the editor of the book, naturally I love it. But I'm responding to the reviewer who calls herself "a reader from the United States" who's review is mostly a review of a book called STOLEN MOMENTS. I'm quite disappointed to learn that the person who posted that review is, of course, the author of STOLEN MOMENTS, which believe me, as I've ordered it and read as much as possible, is no THE SAVING GRACES. Her comments don't belong on this site.
Rating: Summary: Saving Graces Review: I just finished reading this book. It was so good, I couldn't put it down. I felt like I was one of the "Graces". I felt so close to all of them. I feel empty now that I've finished the book -- like I've lost 4 best friends. I recommend it to every woman.
Rating: Summary: A book for all women Review: I have read this book 3 times already (I bought it last summer) and each time I read it, I find something that is similar to my life or a women in my life. The triumphs of the women is this book are amazing. The author really hit everyone generation. I am in my mid-twenties, and I found a character very much like each important women in my life. This book touched my heart in more ways than a book has in a long time.
Rating: Summary: A must read for women Review: My book club read this book. We all loved it. I especially loved it. The characters were so well developed. You may not have always agreed with them. But you did feel like you knew them, and cared for them. The only thing with this book was at the beginning it was a little hard to follow. Every chapter is one of the friends. I did what one reader suggested, I made little notes on each character. I used that instead of back tracking into the book. Before I was even half way done with the book I didnt need the notes. You get to know the characters so well. Then the book just flowed for me. I thought the story was great and nicely told I hated to see it end. If you just want a good story about friends read this book. Or if you ever read "Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood" and liked it you will like "The Saving Graces."
Rating: Summary: A wonderful tale of sisterly-love Review: What made this book truly great was the depth of the friendship between these four women. It was written so well, that I was achining for a friend like Isabel for several days after I had finished the book.
Rating: Summary: Kay Allenbaugh, author, Chocolate for a Woman's Soul Review: I adored The Saving Graces, and I didn't want it to end! Thanks so much for portraying women as we really are--wise, witty, warm, strong, vulnerable, and loving to the max.
