Rating: Summary: Completely wonderful.... Review: I read at least a book a week, and I can't remember when I have read such an enjoyable, believable tale about female friendship. Patricia Gaffney captures the beauty and the ugliness of female relationships, and accurately depicts how women tend to pair up. Ultimately, they all pull together and there love, although on different levels, is present for each member of the group. What a great book!
Rating: Summary: Delightful Review: I read the reviews of this book on line before purchasing it and when I put it down last night, it was one of the best books I have read recently. I laughed, I cried, and was filled with warm fuzzies! This book is a wonderful book that inspires and reminds us all of what friendship is really about.
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: I was not familiar with this author when I purchased this book, nor had I heard anything about the book. I purchased it because I wanted something to read over the weekend and I like books about relationships of women. I became totally absorbed in the dynamic relationships in this book. I could relate personally to some of the characters and I think many women long to have the kind of friendship with other women that the four characters in this book had. I very rarely am moved to tears when reading a book, but I found myself tearful during several passages in this book. The characters seemed so real. This was a book I wanted to share with friends and it made me want to be more commited to friendships. I read The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood after I read this book and I liked this book better.
Rating: Summary: Included in my TOP THREE books of the year Review: I did not merely like this book, I LOVED it. Along with Janet Evanovich's HOT SIX and Kristin Hannah's ON MYSTIC LAKE, THE SAVING GRACES lands solidly in my top three favorite books of the year--and I read a LOT. Yep, I already have CIRCLE OF THREE. Patricia Gaffney rocks.
Rating: Summary: four friends I'd like to have Review: The Saving Graces have been regularly meeting for 10 years and have become the best of friends. This book narrate two years in the life of the Saving Graces, warts and all. All four are uniquely different with their own desires and needs, they have their own alliances within the group that they share secrets with, they joke with each other, irritate one another, infact they are very real people. They go through an awful lot in those two years, breast cancer, abuse, infertility and unconsumated love and still remain the best of friends. I was really sad to let these people go when l finished the book, infact l think l had a lump in my throat for about the last fifty pages. Read it, and see for yourself.
Rating: Summary: What a wonderful surprise... Review: I picked up "The Saving Graces" at the supermarket--which always means I am desperate to read something, and will settle for fluff--for some reason that has been my experience in the past with drug store or market paperback displays. Imagine my surprise when I found this to be one of the most enjoyable and thought provoking books I have ever read. I couldn't put it down after a while- it contains all the emotions and events that we may face in this life, thrown at us to deal with however we choose. All of these scenerios are played out against the background of female friendship--a group, who had decided, at first, to simply form a club to bounce ideas off each other, and in the end, turned out to form that most precious of commodities- unconditional love for each other, warts and all. I am so glad I found this book, and I plan to explore the author's other books, even though they sound quite different in context than this one. This one was a gift. Thanks, Patricia Gaffney.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book Review: As the reviews say, most women will indentify with the characters in this book. I want all my friends to read it because I see some part of us in the characters. I really did feel that I was sitting down to talk to friends every time I picked up the book. I immediately bought her next novel in hardback (an unusual event for me). I agree this is a MUST READ.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book Review: When a set of characters becomes so real, the reader is no longer aware of the words on the page, you know you've found magic. Such is the case with THE SAVING GRACES. The subjects may not be original -- dealing with terminal illness, infertility, loneliness, and the like -- but then, what is, in this world? But Gaffney handles her material with both a freshness and sensitivity -- and a delightful, subtle sense of humor -- that immediately won this reader over. Be patient with the first few chapters -- it may take a while to get used to the four different first-person voices -- but your patience will be well rewarded. THE SAVING GRACES immediately vaulted Ms. Gaffney right to the top echelon of my "favorite authors" list.

Rating: Summary: Laughter and Tears Review: I found this to be a poignant, moving book without too much sentamentality. I laughed. I cried. I was reminded of THE DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YAYA SISTERHOOD. I just bought more copies for my closest friends....you will, too
