Summary: Accurate portrayal of women's friendships
Review: This book offers a story of 4 women who have participated in an ongoing support group and developed deep friendships as a result. The story centers around the oldest member, who is quick ill, and the impact of her illness and struggles on the other members. The disappointment of the book to me is that of the 4 women, only the oldest is a relatively strong woman with an independent and free spirit. The other 3 are quite insecure and sometimes annoying to read about. Somehow the 4th member seems to provide balance to these other 3 and it makes for a heartwarming story about the power of women in their friendships to one another. Well worth the time and paperback cost.

Summary: Female Bonding
Review: What an incredible story. This is the story of four women friends that meet every two weeks for ten years. Each chapter is told by one of the four women. This made me feel as though each woman was sitting in my living room with me and talking to me. They became my friends. It is a story of friendship and caring. I could see bits of myself and my friends in these women. It made me laugh out loud and it made me cry. I have recommended this book to numerous women friends and they have each loved it. I wish I could find another book that touches on the strength and depth of female friendships. Thank you Patricia Gaffney for giving this story to me.

Summary: FANTASTIC
Review: I stumbled upon this book while searching the internet and was so stunned to find that this book made me cry. It also made me wish that I had a group of girlfriends that I can confide in that way. The book was fantastic and I recommend it to anyone who has a group of girlfriends they trust and love and also to those that wish they did.

I keep searching for another book like that but haven't found anything quite as good yet. Please Ms. Gaffney, write some more.

Summary: The Ultimate Refresher Course on Friendship
Review: Patricia Gaffney brings together four very intense women, each with a definite hurdle to leap, and reminds us what it means to be a friend, to have a friend, and even to lose a friend. We first meet them the night they save a dog they name "Grace" and from then on we listen intently as they alternate chapters and reveal the course of their separate but interwoven lives. In Emma, the 40ish never-married would-be writer who hungers for a married man, in Lee who aches to know the joy of motherhood, in Rudy who seeks to overcome her past and break free of a controlling husband, and in Isabel who battles the horrors of cancer, we see the problems and joys that all women must come to terms with in order to live the life they want.

Read the book, but more importantly, share it with your best girlfriends.

Summary: The Quintessential Book on Friendship
Review: Four friends who meet regularly to share most every aspect of their lives is the basis for this novel. I found the novel a bit hard to get into because of the intensity of these characters and their problems, but am glad I saw them through to the end because of the wonderful messages about friendship that the last chapters offered---things we all know about tolerance and acceptance, but need to have refreshed in our minds from time to time.

Their stories are sad and often darkly humorous, so be prepared with kleenex and a quiet place to cry.

Summary: Wish I had best friends like these
Review: I loved this book. I began to wish I had 4 friends like these after finishing the first chapter. I related to every character for completely different reasons, and could not put the book down. Although this is an emotional book, I have recommended it to all of my family and friends because I felt so drawn to this story.

You will not regret it.

Summary: The Saving Graces
Review: A friend told me about this book and thought I would take in on vacation but didn't expect to ever finish it. Read this book in less than a week and can't remember when I ever did that. This book was an easy read, entertaining, emotional and made me want to know more about these women. I hope Ms. Gaffney writes something else about them. Now I am going to look for more books written by her. A new favorite author!

Summary: Makes me want to start a womens group! Great read!
Review: Wonderful storytelling based on the adult friendships of a group of women. Each brings their own life experiences and strength which affords a wonderful supportive group of women friends.

Based near Washington, D.C. this group gathers and shares their hopes, dreams, aspirations and limitations in life. They have bonded and are committed to being there for one another. They share their lives and the story unfolds as each character is drawn to one another.

They group is very likeable and you are left admiring and embracing them. Well written and easy to read. Enjoyable!

Summary: A great book about female friendship........
Review: I had the pleasure of reading this book a couple of months ago and I must say that it is one of the best books that I have read in about a year!! The author is able to make you get inside of each of the characters and really feel what they are feeling. I have read many books in my 39 years, and not since reading The Bridges of Madison County have I actually cried while reading a novel. If you haven't read this one yet, do go out and get it, you won't regret it.
