Rating: Summary: An outstanding romantic novel Review: "Nights in Rodanthe," by Nicholas Sparks is a phenomenal love story. I've read "The Notebook," "A Bend in the Road" and "A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks and with my past experiences reading his literature I knew to keep a box of tissues by my side. Sure enough I used about half the box reading "Nights in Rodanthe." I must be honest, I'm not one to read a book in one sitting but sure enough I was up till 3 o'clock in the morning reading "Nights in Rodanthe." I couldn't put the book down. I had to know what was going to happen next or how it was going to happen. I was a little disappointed with the way the book began because by page 7, I already knew how the book was going to end. Amanda, Adrienne, the main character's daughter, is going through a hard time due to the lose of her husband to cancer and accuses her mother of not knowing what she is going through. In the book, Nicholas Sparks writes "Adrienne had said nothing, but when Amanda left the room, Adrienne lowered her head and whispered a single word. Rodanthe." (Chapter 1, page 7) Despite the fact I already knew the ending from that simple paragraph I still couldn't put the book down. I had to know every detail to Adrienne's story and how she and Paul, the love of her life, met, fell in love and hoped to spend the rest of their lives together. I had to know what kept them apart and even though I already knew what happened to them, I had to know how it happened. I strongly recommend "Nights in Rodanthe" to all romanticist. The novel is full of romantic scenes and if you've ever been in love you'll be able to relate with Adrienne and Paul as they fall in love. The book is hard to put down and I often found myself rushing through one page to get to the next to find out what was going to happen. One word of advice, keep a box of tissues handy.
Rating: Summary: Typical Sparks Review: This is a typical Sparks read. I outgrew the bodice ripping romance novels years ago and have a distaste for romance in my mystery novels. But with this author I make an exception, "The Notebook and A Walk to remember" evoke strong emotions that a book normally wouldn't force to the surface. "Message in a Bottle and Bend in the Road" were more modern stories that didn't move me as much. This novel hints on the emotions of his earlier works. Adrienne is looking for a way to reach her down Amanda who is drowning in grief over the death of her husband. She tells her daughter the story of one magical week spent at a bed and breakfast inn on the coast of the ocean. A man arrives looking for forgiveness on a death he caused while performing surgery on a patient. Adrienne is just looking to find meaning in her life after a bitter divorce. These two souls come together and pledge to make a life together. after he returns from Peru. This is a typical Sparks story and I knew the ending long before we got there kept this book from being a 10. It is just the kind of books I need between mysteries and to keep hope alive in this world we live in.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME Review: I love this book its got everything from happiness to sadness it keeps you wanting more...If you didn't like his last to books you'll love this. If you liked his last books you'll love this to.
Rating: Summary: Haven't I Read This Somewhere Before? Review: As a huge Nicholas Sparks fan, I pre-ordered this book so I could read it immediately following its release. I was very disappointed! Not only was it lacking in passion and surprise, but it is nearly the same story I read in "Message in a Bottle". If you're thinking of reading a Nicholas Sparks book, I would definitely recommend skipping this one. "A Bend in the Road" and "The Rescue" are far better books, with deeper plots and well-rounded characters. "Nights in Rodanthe" is very one-dimensional and predictable. It was a big disappointment for this fan.
Rating: Summary: Satisfying and quick Review: This satisfying and quick read was just the thing for a rainy day. And be prepared to use more than one box of kleenex for this one--what a tear jerker it is! But aside from that, it is well written and the characters are some of the best to grace a written page. Granted, "Three Weeks" and "The Wedding" are my all-time favorite Nicholas Sparks novels, but this one is good too. Of the three books I've recently come across (and all were excellent--Birth of Venus, Bark of the Dogwood, and "Nights") this one was the best. I did like the other three, but I'm a big Sparks fan from way back and no one does it like him.
Rating: Summary: Nice love story with a message Review: Nights in Rodanthe is a typical Nicholas Sparks book, a satisfying enjoyable love story & a quick read. Don't expect this book to impress you beyond your wildest dreams and you won't be disappointed. But one thing about Spark's books, you can always count on a read that will take you away to another place & a story that will inspire you. And most definitely, you'll cry! This is the story of Andrienne & Patrick who fall in love over a weekend they spend together. They fall in love during a time in their lives that they're most unhappy and alone. Now, years later Adrienne is telling their story to her daughter Amanda, to help her with a difficult time in her life. Thus, the lesson is revealed. I truly enjoyed this book. I enjoy Spark's writing for a bit of the break in the heavy dramatic novels or crime stories I usually read. This did the trick! Not as good as Message in a Bottle or the Notebook, but still a wonderful read.
Rating: Summary: You'll shed more than a few tears if you read this one Review: I must admit to being a sucker for a good love story . . . plus, I have enjoyed the other novels by Nicholas Sparks (THE RESCUE, THE NOTEBOOK, etc.) . . . so, naturally, I had to read his latest: NIGHTS IN RODANTHE. It will definitely remind you of other similar books, most notably THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY . . . you know the drill--two middle-aged people meet up and fall in love . . . yet that said, you'll still get hooked on how Sparks handles the tale. My biggest problem in reading it: Deciding whether I wanted to finish the book in one sitting . . . I wanted to see what would happen, but also, I did not want it to end . . . and I guarantee that you'll shed more than a few tears if give this one a chance. There were many memorable passages; among them: Paul watched her walk away, noticing again how attractive she was. In spite of the direction his medical practice had taken in later years, he'd always remained less interested in appearance than those things a person couldn't see: kindness and integrity, humor and sensibility. Adrienne, he as sure, had all those traits, but he got the felling that they'd been unappreciated for a long time, maybe even by her. "It was something he would always say to me, ever since I was a little girl. No matter how good or bad I'd done in anything, no matter if I was happy or sad, my dad would always give me a hug and tell me, 'I'm proud of you.' " But Paul was different. Paul, she knew, wasn't like Jack in any way, and it was there, while upstairs in his room, that Adrienne first felt a vague sense of anxious anticipation, something akin to what a high roller might feel when hoping for a lucky roll of the dice.
Rating: Summary: Well written Review: Sparks is a very good writter. And this book is well written and short. But so far it has been my least favorite of all his books. With this, his latest love story, he tells us the story of two shattered people. Both sadly scarred by past experiences. Who find each other late in life and realize they are soul mates. The story takes place in a small coastal town of Rodanthe, North Carolina where Adrienne Willis is tending to a friends Inn as she re-thinks her life. Her husband had left her three years earlier for a younger woman. And the Inn's only guest, Paul Flanner who has just sold his medical practice and has come to Rodanthe to escape his own shattered past. This meeting of the two takes place within the midst of major storm. Which brings these two people closer toegther. And we share their weekend together. A weekend that will change them. As well as affect the rest of their lives.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: This is one of the best books I've read in a while (last one: "Girl With A Pearl Earring"). Actually I don't read as much as I should or want to, but since I have a "touch" of ADD, the storyline really has to grab my attention. And, this one did a good job. I told a friend of mine about it and I traded it for one she had just finished....."The Guardian". I had already bought "The Wedding", but since now I see that "The Notebook" is a prequel to that, I'll go ahead and read "The Guardian" before I start "The Notebook". Whoa.....I'm all "sparked" out!! Another reason I liked "Nights" was that it was fun reading about familiar names, places, etc. since we lived in Raleigh, NC for 10 years and went to the beach a lot in the summertime. I think I've finally found an author who can hold my attention,
