Rating: Summary: Not what I was expecting Review: I am a BIG EJD fan, but I have to let my opinion be known. I bought this book as soon as it was released and was very disappointed. The story unfolds very quickly, too quickly. The characters tell you how they feel instead of you, the reader, being able to read and interpret how they feel like most good books do. I like to sit down and read and think about the characters and put them together and with this book I couldn't. I like a book that makes me think.I really believe that this book was put together too quickly and that is why it wasn't up to par. I believe with a little more time it could've been so much better.
Rating: Summary: A FUN READ FOR THE HOLIDAYS Review: This book some what compares to EJD's book 'Sister,Sister'. The story is about the McBroom sisters, Frankie, Tommie, and Livvy. Throughout the book they take us through their troubles with life and especially MEN!!! Frankie is the eldest and seems to have trouble finding Mr. Right but she is has no problem with the success of her job. She turns to the Internet to find that special someone...but we all know that this almost never works. It is hilarious when she goes on some of these dates with her Internet hopefuls. Livvy is a woman betrayed because her husband cheated on her and has possibly fathered a child with his mistress. Livvy soon finds another man to take away the pain that her husband has put her through...but does he really take away the pain? The last McBroom sister, Tommie, is youngest and still trying to find her niche in life. She works retail and is an aspiring poet. She has strong feelings for one of her neighbors but is skeptical of commiting to another relationship because of the horrible abuse she went through in her last one. She is ready to get her life together and venture out into the world without her big sisters helping her out. This book reminded me of the Soul Food Series that comes on Showtime. The book is very entertaing but the only thing that I didn't understand was...were does the holidays fit into the story. I just thought that it was a regular novel because it barely touched on Christmas and Kwanza. Plus it was set in Califorina so no snow:( But regardless of all of that this was a very good book but just not one of his best. It is still worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Loved the ending Review: This book was very good and I ended up passing it around to everyone at my job. The ending was great, it really tied everything together and i was very pleased and shocked. Panther is not who you think she is. I can't wait for him to put out another book. I love all his books especially Milk in My Coffee.
Rating: Summary: He never fails me Review: Eric, it just keeps getting better and better! I have read all of your books, and mind you, I've never been the one to sit still long enough to finish a chapter without getting bored. But your books are so TODAY and so NOW! You couldn't have chosen a better time to release this one. What "A Holiday Novel" it is!! Whoever is reading this....what are you waiting for..GO GET THE BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: Very disappointed Review: I am one of the biggest EJD fans. Whenever he comes to town-I'm there. Whenever his new book comes out, I buy it the same day. This book was too raunchy and not enough substance. The "flava" , the characters, the dialogue found in his earlier works were not there. Hey Eric-how about a sequel to Cheaters? Still loving ya..
Rating: Summary: Eric Jerome Dickey does it again Review: I love this Author I have read all of his books and I loved them all however this one is laugh out loud funny. E.J.D. still put in all the steamy...[intercourse] and the interesting characters but this one had melaughing from the gut. I didn't expect that. E. continues to surprise me. I love it. The Other Woman was awesome too, I totally did not see the end coming, I won't give it away go get the book!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Just In Time for the Holidays! Review: This book is laced with hot, scandalous sex! The holiday season just heightens the emotional roller coaster of each sister as they reflect on their lives, the loss of their parents and their current set of challenges that faces them individually as well as collectively. In this book, New York Times best selling author Eric Jerome Dickey has made his list and checked it twice! With NAUGHTY OR NICE, he has done it again! Rating: Summary: A disappointment Review: If you like Zane, you'll enjoy this book. Unfortunately, it is yet another fiction book relying more on shocking vulgar words and sexual acts instead of a story line. The book read more like a porno, and less like a well-crafted novel. During the times when Dickey reminded me of how well he is at dialogue, controversy, and making the plot thicken, here comes another sex scene to water down the whole novel. I also didn't care for him biting off the movie "Soul Food" with the book being three sisters, a sister named Bird, and a "Big Momma". Word of Advice: No one cares about the sex scenes unless we care about the characters. I wasn't excited nor apalled to read the sex scenes, it felt more like hearsay and I was thinking "Who cares?" The acknowledgement page was more interesting than the WHOLE book. I enjoy Dickey as an author but his last two books weren't well-developed (character-wise). The one time I actually wanted to read about two people getting intimate, it was cut off (hint: one flies, the other is a color, burn mark) and the dialogue was intelligent without vulgar words being thrown all over the place. When you curse, make it count. Otherwise, it sounds like filth.
