Summary: Until the End
Review: This was the first book I read by Nicholas Sparks. I thought it was very good. I read it on the reccomendation of a friend. This is something that I probably not have picked up without the reccomendation. At first, I thought the story moved very slow. I was ready to quit reading but my friend encouraged me to continue reading. I am so glad that I did. I thought it was awesome! Once you get passed the first few chapters, the action really picks up and you just want to keep reading. You feel like someone watching Landon and Jamie and feeling with them. I was drawn in to continue. The end was heartbreaking. It was a marvelous story. I love the way Sparks builds and shapes his characters. I have picked up many other books by him as a result of reading this book.

Summary: Simple charms of love and miracles
Review: It was of pure chance I picked this book from the library - and this bittersweet romance charmed me off effortlessly with its simple storytelling. This book opens unabashedly with the character's confession, "First you will laugh - later you will cry." Nicholas Sparks draws the reader to the town of Beaufort and spins a yarn about Lancer Carter, who at the age of seventeen learns about the true love and miracles of God through his fateful encounter with the local minister's daughter Jamie Sullivan. He is intrigued by how gregarious and cheerful she remains, and together in a drama play - he learns of Jamie's down-to-earth character and how strong she is despite her tragedy.

Again Nicholas Sparks's poignant writing shines here - A Walk to Remember drips with nostalgia with a small town background and Lancer's revelation. It is tinged with a melancholy that is cloyingly tender and the final script presents a love that is ironically eternal yet so transient. It may not have the passionate intensity of Message in a Bottle and The Notebook but simplicity can sometimes be a charmer as in the case of A Walk to Remember.

Summary: Good but not his best
Review: A Walk to Remember was very quick & detailed up until the end. I was very disappointed with the ending. I felt like I had missed something in reading. The ending left me wondering more about what actually happened & I was confused by the whole thing.

Summary: Just like always!
Review: There is no way that this book, just like Sparks' other books would disappoint this reader in any way. The reader can tell of the tension between the two main characters and that there is a subtle hint of a budding love story, but what the reader cannot guess is the beautiful love story that is sure to not leave a dry eye in the house!

Summary: Disappointingly Predictable
Review: I LOVED Message in a Bottle and The Notebook, so I was bitterly disappointed when I read A Walk to Remember. The plot was too predictable (from who Landon was going to take to the prom to what he was going to do to make Jamie's dream come true).

It reads like a book that was written in one weekend because Nicholas Sparks' book Editor was pushing him to put out another book on the heels of his first two books' success.

Summary: A Walk to Remember
Review: The book that I read was called A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks. This book was about a boy named Landon Carter that grew up in the care of his mother because his father, Worth Carter was a congressman that had to go places and could never be with his son. Landon believed that his father was supposed to go away sometimes.
Landon found out in kindergarten, from his best friend, Eric Hunter, that fathers were not supposed to leave you. Their family was in a great deal of depression back then.
As Landon grew older, he became more like his father, his mother said. Soon Landon was in Beaufor High School were he met a girl named Jamie Sullivan. Since he didn't have a date for homecoming, he took her. They went and had a great time except when they had to take Angela Clarke, a girl that Landon went out with, home because she got drunk and they felt sorry for her. Landon and Jamie grew very close to one another. Landon would walk her home almost every night. She began to really like him that you could tell a little bit of realization going between them.
Until one day, Jamie just couldn't take it anymore. She was hiding something from Landon that she didn't want him to know. She was dying from leukemia and didn't want this to affect their relationship with each other. Landon didn't know to think so they got married and she died while holding his hand.

A Walk to Remember
A Walk to Remember, by Nicholas Sparks, is about a man named Landon Carter who remembers his last year at Beaufort High School. This year of his life is a year he will never forget.
In 1958, seventeen-year-old Landon Carter is in his last year of high school. He has dated before and has recently broken up with his last girlfriend, Angela Clark. Landon didn't have a date for the homecoming dance as a result of their breakup. Since Landon was a member of the student council, he was required to attend the homecoming dance. It turns out that there are few girls available. Landon ends up asking a girl named Jamie Sullivan. Jamie was the daughter of the Baptist minister, Hegbert Sullivan. Jamie was a quiet girl and always carried her Bible with her. Most people, including Landon, considered her odd. Her father was widowed and being taken care of by Jamie.
The punch bowl was spiked at the homecoming dance and, as a result, Angela threw up all over the ladies` rest room. Landon and Jamie helped her get home.
At school, Jamie and Landon are both in drama class together. Jamie and Landon both have the two main parts of the Christmas play. Jamie's father wrote the Christmas play they were performing. Jamie wanted this play to be extra special. Landon would always walk Jamie home after they had play practice. Landon liked Jamie even more each time he walked her home, but he wouldn't admit it to himself.
The play was a big success. When Landon saw how beautiful Jamie looked he finally decides that he is in love with her.
Jamie wanted to do something extra special for the orphans this Christmas, but she did not raise enough money. Landon secretly donated a bunch of money so that Jamie would have enough.
They gave the orphans a big Christmas party. While they were at the party, Jamie gave Landon her Bible as a Christmas present. Jamie had figured out what he did for the orphans.
Landon later goes to Jamie's house to see her. They didn't sit on the porch and talk like they usually do. Instead, they had their first kiss. Later on, Landon tells Jamie, for the first time, that he loves her. Jamie tells him that he can't love her because she has leukemia. She and her father had been keeping it a secret from everyone.
Jamie steadily became weaker. Landon's father paid for extra care and help when Jamie had to go into the hospital.
Landon decides that he wants to ask Jamie to marry him. He asks Jamie's father's permission and then he asks Jamie.
At the wedding, Jamie says that she wants to walk down the aisle. She shakily walked down the aisle and she was determined to make it. She did make it all the way down and they got married.
The characters in this novel were round characters. They were drawn well and had many traits. This novel shows the depths of the human heart and shows how much a life can be changed. The setting was in a small town, and this fit in well with the story. The story was written in first person and the tone was very sad. Things were described well and the readers are given a full picture of everything. The wedding should have been described in more detail and the theme should have been clearer. I would highly recommend this novel.

Summary: A Walk To Remember
Review: This book more than any other tore my heart in pieces. I cant bring myself to reflect on the parts of the story that touched me so without tears welling up in my eyes and heart. I have read the cynics complain that this is a story that was a repeat of "Love Story" thirty years ago. That is plain rubbish! There is no comparison between the two. the stories are far different from one another. In one the girl is a sweet preachers daughter and the other is a young woman with a very foul mouth. Who uses the "F" word in every sentence! the only part of the story that is has a comparison, is the desease that they both are suffering from. Several thousand people get this desease each and every year. Who's to say that only one of those stories can be told? I for one loved A Walk To Remember. Thank you Mr Sparks for your wonderful story of Love.....

Summary: "Love begins with a smile, and ends with a tear"
Review: "Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends in a tear." This famous quote depicts the lives of the two main characters in A Walk to Remember. While reading this heart-warming novel, I could not help but become overwhelmed with the story itself. The fact that two teenagers could make a connection, which is beyond ordinary society's comprehension, besieged me and showed me that the idea of true love could actually develop between two opposites.
Landon Carter was a typical teenager, who was overly concerned about his outside appearance and his reputation among his friends. He was the type of person who would do anything to fulfill others' expectations of what they believed he should be. He lived his life in the shadow of his father, whose main goal was to mold Landon into a younger version of himself. While doing so, he was so self-absorbed that he did not take the time to notice all the wonderful surroundings.
Jamie Sullivan was far from a typical teenage girl; she was not disturbed with outside appearances, popularity, or the materialistic world. Instead she thrived on her innermost feelings, emotions, and faith. She came from a very religious family and was very loyal to volunteering at the local orphanage, taking care of her widowed father and helping injured animals. Jamie came across as a quiet content church going girl.
Throughout the book, Landon and Jamie display their differences, but when the homecoming dance is only a few weeks away, everything shifts. Landon is left dateless, and Jamie is one the only girls left. He ends up asking her to the dance and she agrees. The two end up hitting it off really well. Through this a close bond begins to form. She begins to change his perspectives on life, helps him though a major decision, and brings out the true beauty within him.
This touching novel illustrates the true beauty inside of us all. Landon Carter went out on a limb to ask Jamie Sullivan to the homecoming dance even though she was not his first choice; as a result he found true love. By reading this book and watching the characters change each other over time you will be astonished. It is amazing to watch the beauty of true love grow so pure between two young teenagers who appear as complete opposites.
Nicholas Sparks has written another brilliant account of a relationship his readers can relate to. I feel that A Walk to Remember is a remarkable book that everyone can connect with. This breathtaking book is a must read for anyone growing up in today's society.

Summary: Fantastic, Beautifully Moving Love Story
Review: This was my first Sparks book, and I enjoyed it so much I am looking to read them all. His writing style makes you "see" and "feel" the details of his story, and his tale takes you through the full gamut of emotions. The prologue of this book is important, and true to its word. A wonderful read for anyone who enjoys a good love story, and the meaning of real friendship!
