Summary: Love, Hope, Faith
Review: I glanced at "A Walk to Remember" because of the title, read it because of the blurb, and made it one of the very few books I own because I loved it after I read it. I'll admit, I figured out the ending very early into the book. But I loved the book so much that didn't hurt the reading one bit. The whole story is wonderful and I've read it several times since.

I'm not a fan of Sparks- I've read "The Notebook" and the blurbs & reviews for his other books but didnt like any of them. But "AW2R" is a very touching, moving story about hope, faith, and love (the 3 things in live you should never to lose) which I still read every now and again. It's one of the best books I've ever read. If you like Sparks' other stuff, you'll like this. And if you're like me and the subject matter touches your heart, you'll really love the book.

Summary: Touching
Review: This book is the only book that has ever made me really cry. It is heartwarming and very sweet. The main character really becomes a man as the story progresses and you begin to like him whereas in the beginning of the book he isn't likeable, but is a typical teenager. It was a very easy read and very hard to put down.

Summary: Emotional Capture
Review: Amazing book....lol..I'm a grad student and the semester just let out...so I was definitly not looking to do any more
reading...the book caught my attention (...)...so I gave it a once over
[and bought it] I picked it up @ around 11p, thinking I would read one or two chapters, and ended up awake at 2a, crying my eyes out and hugging my teddy bear...it was often poignant in bringing out a
realistic quality that often gets lost in these fiction novels...the characters are created with care, each having traits
that seem true to life...plus the author was true to the time and setting of the novel...Sparks did a tremendous
job...the scenes were touching and reminiscent of even the classic 'Love Story' by Erich Segal...I am very
interested to see how they will create the movie from this....more often than not, unfortunately, the movie falls short
of the expectations of the readers...I'm not saying it won't be good, but it is unlikely to parallel the emotional
catharsis that Sparks creates in "A Walk to Remember" =o) I am interested to see the musical numbers they
choose and the powerful scenes they pair them up with..if the screenwriters and producer can recreate the love
story that Sparks wrote with the same simplicity and yet intensity, then I predict that the movie will definitly be a true
triumph (...)...If you have a
chance to read it, no matter the age, background, and even sex, you will surely be touched.
Enjoy fellow readers.

Summary: A Classic
Review: I have never read any books by Nicholas Sparks before this one but after finishing "A Walk to Remember" I will. It's a classic, touching love story that I couldn't put down once I started. I recommend it for absolutly anyone! I am in high school so I related well to some of the things Jamie and Landen were going through, but I must say, you can be 17, or 71 to enjoy this book, it's so heartfelt and it really makes you think about your own life. Wonderful book. I also thought the ending was done quite well...

Summary: A Book To Remember
Review: This was truly the most wonderful story I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The prologue to the book is what got me interested and the characters are what kept me reading. I have never before read anything that drew such emotion out of me. This came as a surprise because for the first 3/4 of the book I did not find myself too involved emotionally and then I suddenly could not put it down until I had finished every page. I felt as though I was experiencing it myself and it was amazing. This was a once-in-a-lifetime book experience and I can't wait for the motion picture!

Summary: a great book
Review: A Walk to Remember is a great book about a boy named Landon Carter that learns from a girl named Jamie Sullivan. He never spoke to her until his senior year when he needed a date for the homecoming dance. No one liked her at school because she carried her bible around everywhere and wore plain clothes. Jamie asked Landon to be in the play that her father wrote. They began to spend a lot of time together and they walked home together everyday after practicing for the play. They began to learn about each other. During their relationship, Jamie taught Landon the value of forgiveness. Jamie asked Landon what he wanted to do when he got older he did not know but she said she wanted to get married. Landon fell in love with her and then found out that she had a secret that only her and her father new about. She was dying and there was not anything to cure it. He new that she was going to die and he loved her so he asked her to marry him. As she walked down the isle Landon said it was a walk to remember. They got married and she died while holding Landon's hand at the age of seventeen. This was a sad but great book.

Summary: Sigh!
Review: Sparks's novels are my favorite guilty pleasure. I loved "The Notebook" and "Message in a Bottle," but this one surpassed my expectations. It is simply yet beautifully written, and the details are, as always, well chosen. Teens and young adults will especially appreciate "A Walk to Remember," becuase the characters are high school seniors. Sparks truly understands his female audience. There isn't any steamy sex scene or exotic backdrop, but this novel will definitely take you places. For me, the saddest part was finishing the book. It was like returning home from vacation or finishing off a piece of chocolate cake.

Summary: A True Walk to Remember
Review: A Walk to Remember, by Nicholas Sparks, is a truly compassionate love story between two young teenagers, Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan. This novel is a story that can make you smile, but also make you cry.

Landon, at age fifty-seven, is remembering the year 1958 in his hometown of Beaufort, North Carolina. At this time, Landon is seventeen years old and living the life of a normal teenager: going to school, applying for college, hanging out with his friends at Cecil's Diner, and dating sporadically. Landon is recalling the year in his life which changes him forever and the year which he will never forget.

Jamie Sullivan is also a teenager at Beaufort High School but is rather different than most other people her age. She is the daughter of the Southern Baptist minister, Hegbert; she loves him very much and claims he fills the open void left by her mother who died in childbirth. Jamie walks around all the time carrying her mother's bible, helps critters, and volunteers at the local orphanage. Though she is set apart in her ways, Jamie is still a girl to which many adore and look up to.

Landon could never imagine where his life would lead in the next year. It first begins with the annual homecoming dance. Landon does not have a date due to his recent breakup with Angela Clark. Over time, he begins to ponder on the idea of taking Jamie and eventually gets up his nerve to ask her. She says yes and though it was an eventful night, they do have an enjoyable evening.

Life begins to turn back to normal for Landon until Jamie asks him to perform the lead role next to her in the annual Christmas play. Landon knows the play is very sentimental to Jamie because it is centered around her life. He also recognizes her appreciation and gratefulness when he agrees.

In the next several weeks, Jamie and Landon spend much time together rehearsing. Finally, the time comes to perform, and the play as always is a huge success. In spending this time together, Landon begins to view Jamie in a different way. His attitude begins to change for her, and he begins to fear that he is falling for her.

Through the dance, the play, spending time with the orphans, gift giving, and just talking, their feelings for one another heighten, and eventually they acknowledge these emotions. They both know each has fallen for the other in more ways than one. Landon reacts and tells Jamie for the first time, "I love you," but he does not expect what Jamie tells him in return.

Through the next few months, Landon and Jamie eventually learn of how strong the bond between them is when their love is truly tested. Of course, as most love stories do, their love does stand and proves true after many devastating obstacles. As the novel ends, the reader too discovers the power of true love and begins to view life in a totally different perspective.

The characters in this novel were very well rounded and delicately described. In viewing all characters, we can devise many different characteristics and traits of each. Sparks does a wonderful job in depicting the novel's characters.

The power of true love and its strength to prevail is the reoccurring theme of A Walk to Remember. The reader sees the love between Jamie and Landon grow and eventually overcome. Though the theme is no readily stated, the theme is obviously noted by the thickening plot.

As always, Nicholas Sparks creates a wonderful work of literature in writing A Walk to Remember. Through your emotions, he creates a magnificently plausible novel of joy and hope. I, personally, enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to escape and fall in love.
