Rating: Summary: Tragic Twist... Review: A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks is a excellent book for any young or adult reader. It's one of those books that you can't absolutely put down! Infact, I finished it in less than two days and I'm the least likely person who would EVER finish a book. The book is about two opposite people falling in love. Landon Carter is your typical teenage boy just looking for fun, always joking and hanging out with his friends. Jaime Sullivan plays the minister's daughter who is sweet to everyone and everything. She gets teased very often, but all that doesn't matter to her. Landon falls in love with Jaime and they go through some hardships towards the end. My advice when reading this book, get a tissue. Enough said.
Rating: Summary: Touching Review: Jamie Sullivan is the type of girl guys tend to stay away from. She's strange (carrying a bible wherever she goes), and her father's the minister of a church that almost the whole town goes to. But 17-year-old Landon sees a real person in her, and falls in love. This is an enormously touching book. It deals with tragedy, triumph, and teaches a real lesson about love and life. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a classic work of fiction by a great new author. And of course, if you're going to see the movie.
Rating: Summary: A really good read. Review: I really liked this book, it was a good read, kind of short but it was exactly the type of book that I like - romantic and sweet and it also made me laugh. However, it made me cry too. Just like the prologue says, the book will make you laugh and cry. I've never read anything by this author before but after reading this, I'm definately going to read more by Nicholas Sparks. I'm not certain what to make of the ending though. I liked it but .. I'm not sure that I interpreted it correctly. Then again, I don't want to spoil the book for anyone.. so I'm not going to say anymore. : ) I wonder if the movie will be any good.
Rating: Summary: So Predictable but Still Good Review: This is not "Message in a Bottle," but I still found this a good read. Not lengthy, a simple love story as seen thru the eyes of a 17-year-old boy. Makes you laugh, makes you cry. What more could you ask for?
Rating: Summary: "A Book to Remember" Review: If you a looking for a light, relaxing read, look no further! You have definitely found the right book. The best way to describe this novel is compare it to TV. It is the soap opera of the literary world. Anyone who enjoys any of the Oprah Book Club books would take pleasure in this novel. I would also recommend this book to any teenage girl looking to learn a thing or two about love. Although it was overall wonderfully written, I would not recommend this book to someone needing to do any type of book report or analysis. It is too much of a "light read" and does not go in depth enough. Even so, the plot is in many ways both compelling and heart warming. It is easy to get into, and really does touch your heart. It is not too deep nor does it require much thinking. It is by far, the perfect answer to a lazy Sunday afternoon! (Don't forget the tissues!)
Rating: Summary: An unexpectedly amazing book Review: I saw a preview for the movie "A Walk To Remeber" and thought it was interesting, so I decieded to pick up the book and read it before I can watch it. From the first few pages, I was drawn into story. Little did I know that I would stay up past midnight to finish reading the book because I couldn't put it down. I know it's a cliche, but I had to read it all the way through. I couldn't wait till the next day. I loved the sincerity of the main character, Landon, and how he goes through a transformation. It is a story about faith and love, and this one not only brought tears to my eyes, but made me re-evaluate how I live my life.
Rating: Summary: The Sappiest of Them All Review: Boo-woo...is the sound you definitely won't be making while reading Nicholas Sparks' A Walk to Remember. If you enjoy shmaltzy love stories, this novel would be right up your alley. As for me, I thought this novel was typical, unrealistic, and cliché. With a typical "boy meets girl, boy likes girl" story line, it was easy for me to fall asleep. Besides the lack of originality in the plot, it was also highly unrealistic. At the end of the book the two teenagers who are supposedly in love get married! Come on, to all those parents out there, would you ever let this happen to your kid?! Everything about the book was fantasy. An immature teenage boy who cares deeply about his reputation falls in love with the Bible-loving class dork after spending a great deal of time with her while rehearsing for the school play? Huh? I know it sounds long and exhausting and that is exactly what it is. As I got more into the book, the story line just kept getting tiring and I was getting more exhausted reading it. The plot was milked for all it could be and that is what made the novel an ultimate bore. When I finished the book, I was stunned that it took 236 pages to write such a predictable love story. Listen to me, folks! A Walk to Remember puts the "sap" in "sappy"! Hmm... this book would probably fancy all those out there who actually like to be bored. As for me, when reading a novel, I like to be stimulated by the plot and kept interested throughout the beginning to the end. This book definitely didn't fulfill that job. A Walk to Remember is definitely a book to remember...NOT TO BUY!
Rating: Summary: HEART WARMING AND BREATHTAKING Review: I AM A FOURTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL WHO NOW LOVES TO READ. WHEN MY MOM BOUGHT ME THIS BOOK I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE LOVED IT AS MUCH AS I DO. THE FIRST NIGHT I READ IT I COULD NOT SET IT DOWN. I FELT AS IF I WAS A PART OF THE STORY WATCHING IT TAKE PLACE AND PONDERING WHAT WOULD HAPPEN NEXT. I AMAZINGLY FINISHED IT THE NEXT DAY, WHICH WAS UNUSUAL BECAUSE I USUALLY DON'T FINISH A BOOK UNTIL THE NEXT MONTH. I RECCOMMEND THIS BOOK FOR ANYBODY OF ANY AGE. I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT AND I PROMISE YOU WILL TOO.
Rating: Summary: An illuminating look into young an everlasting love Review: I found A walk to Remember to be one of the best books that I have ever read in my entire life. The writing was unique and worded just so that it added a touch of humor in all the right places. I read it in a couple of hours and when I was done, I wanted so badly for it to continue. I loved the way that the characters were introduced and explained in a way that made you feel a part of the small town. I have never been to North Carolina, but the discriptions and details were so thourough that I felt that I had actually grown up there too. I have been searching for a favorite author and I think that Nicholas Sparks has made my list and I can't wait to read the rest of his books that I'm sure are "marvelous!" I can't even find the words to descibe how much I enjoyed this book. It definitly gives insight to the misunderstandings of young love. Being young myself, I hope that when I fall in love, it is with the same passion and life-altering powerfulness that this book represents. It is definitly the most romantic book that I have ever read...
Rating: Summary: Beautifully Written Review: I'd heard of this book a while before. It grazed the shelf of my favourite bookstore for sometime before I finally gave it a second glance. And I never looked back. Not only is this book written with style, and class..but its pure bliss to read. Its a love story..but not a Romance Novel. Something, that i'm sure numerous people can relate to. Definatley a book I'll be reading again in the soon future.
