Summary: the best book ever
Review: this book is really good... Sparks does a great job of writing his books... I wish he had more books about teens since I am one. It was really sad but it was really well written and this is a must read

Summary: Wonderful but Heartrending Story
Review: I was originally not planning to read this story, even though the upcoming movie with Mandy Moore looked kind of cute. However, my little sister sent this to me, stating if I read it before I visited her, then we could see the movie. Well, I reluctantly picked up the book, and could not put it down.

Landon Carter is not the best young man in his community, but he's not the worst. He comes from a well-established and wealthy family in Beaufort, NC: his grandfather ruthlessly bought up most of the area through at times underhanded tactics, and his father is the local Congressman who spends most of his time in Washington, DC. Not the most popular, he definitely had his own group of friends, and they weren't always kind to others outside the group. Things were going okay, as he skated through school, not really thinking about life or his future.

Then he runs into Jamie, a girl he's known forever, but never really known at all. They couldn't be more different. She's caring, friendly, plain, and the daughter of the town's Baptist preacher. Landon asks Jamie as a last resort to go to the Homecoming dance with him, and he can't seem to avoid her after that. And slowly, he comes to realize he doesn't want to avoid her.

This book is a very quick read; if I had the time, I would have read it in just a couple hours or less. And yes, it is very simple in its story line. But that doesn't matter. Because the story is beautiful and powerful. I shamelessly cried at the end, and will chastise my sister for not warning me. <grin> Despite its very bittersweet ending, however, the story is one of true hope, love, and happiness. I don't care how impossible or ridiculous it may seem - the story is wonderful, and can really offer a lot to those who read it with an open heart.

I hate to cry, as do most of my family. But I'm going to recommend this story to all of them. And I'm doing the same to you. Take a chance; it's worth it.

Summary: Decent Audio Book
Review: Having intensely disliked the author's former novel, "Message in a Bottle," I was very surprised to find out how much I enjoyed this book on tape. I actually listened to the full version, not the unabridged, from RecordedBooks (that is not read by the author) so I can't comment on Nicholas Sparks' own recording. However, the version I did listen to was entertaining, sweet and sad. The main character of Landon Carter is a bit naive but this is set in the 1950's, not today. Teenagers were nicer and more trusting 40 years ago. The main character of Jamie Sullivan is a cross between Joan of Arc and Melanie Wilkes and manages to get exactly what she wants without ever being demanding. She is a very "good" person as the author tells us over and over again. Landon is actually the more interesting of the two people because he does go through somewhat of a life change and matures by the end of the book.

The audio is not long - about 5 tapes - and worth listening to if you get a chance.

Summary: You won't put this book down!
Review: I started reading this book late one night after watching ER, and finished in the next day during school. I was practically reading while I walked through the halls. I loved it so much. I am such a sucker for a good love story, and this one was definitely a good love story. The main characters were so sweet and perfect for eachother, and the transormation of Landon was the best. If you are a girl and you are planning on reading this get a box of Kleenex out. I cried during the last 20 or 30 pages. It was so touching, I want to read it again. I am also seeing the movie the first weekend it comes out. READ THIS BOOK!!!

Summary: Predictable, but Cute
Review: I have to admit: It's not the most spellbinding book around, and it's not the most original plot, but it's a wonderful book. Jamie's character has a way of making you want to be a good person, and Landon's character isn't exactly the typical teenage boy, but he has that kind of charm that makes you wish there was someone like that out there somewhere. The book has a real spirit of first love and good will to it. It may not have been a masterpiece, but it's sure to touch your heart in the perfect way.

Summary: a book to remember
Review: Jamie was the daughter of a Baptist minister and Landon was the son of a Congressman. They came from two total different sides of town, and two totally different families but something happened their senior year that made all the difference. This is the story of their senior year, and it is told by Landon as an older man. He reflects on his senior year as the one that changed him, but all for the better. This book has been made into a motion picture which will be released to theaters on January 25th and is honestly, one of the best books I've ever read. It's truly, a book to remember.

Summary: Great book!
Review: This book is definately worth reading. I would recommend it to all of you. I read it all in one day because I just couldn't put it down. Don't forget your box of tissues, you'll need them, but it will all be worth it in the end.

Summary: What A Wonderful Book
Review: My friends and I all wanted to read this book before we go to see the movie, and every friend of mine that has read it has read it within a few hours! It is such a wonderful book, none of us could put it down! True, the main story is rather predictable, but it's the little surprises thrown in that kept me interested. I have never laughed out loud during a book, nor have I ever cried as much during a book that I did this one. You become truly engrossed in the entire story. I can only hope that the movie will be as good as the book was! I know I'll return to read this book again, and I strongly reccommend it to anyone looking for a good book to curl up and read!
