Rating: Summary: Excellent!!! Review: Hey guys- This book was absolutely extravagant! I could not ask for a better book to sit down by a fire and read. Most of my friends know that I am into books, you wouldnt know it by my personality, because Im outgoing, but I love good books, and often review them. This book was one of the best thatIve read. This book has to do with a young man, who knows this girl for basically his life, and never really saw her. When he finally realizes that shes not just the girl he used to know, but much more, sparks begin to fly.. but will the love stand through what the girl has to tell him? I suggest that you try the book, its a tearjerker, but its a good one.
Rating: Summary: "First you will smile, then you will cry" Review: While reading the introduction, Mr. Sparks writes, "First you will smile, then you will cry. Don't say you weren't warned." I read that with the idea that the book was happy, then sad, but I never cry reading books, I'm just not that kind of person. But as i approached the end of the book (about three days into it), I found tears in my eyes. The story is sad, but yet the ending is happy. This was one of the best books I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: What a wonderfully touching story! Review: This is a charming, well-written story of a young man and the evolution of his perspective. I laughed, I got a little teary,I loved it. Very sweet!
Rating: Summary: A walk to forget Review: If the author used the term, "to tell you the truth" one more time...This book was terrible. The characters were so one dimensional, the plot was vague, and the vocabulary and wording was at the middle school level, at most. This story probably could have been developed into a decent book had the author (or another author) taken more time with this. The book sounds as if it was "banged out" in an evening or two; like a rush job that was done to satisfy a contract with the publishers! Don't read this unless you have not a thing to do, or it is the only book you have with you while stranded on a desert island!
Rating: Summary: Can I give 10 stars?! Review: I can't say enough good stuff about this book. This is by far Nicholas's best novel, in my opinion. I read it in about two hours and sobbed nonstop for about the last 50 pages. I don't think I've cried so much in my life! This is an incredibly poignant, beautiful story about true love and how two seventeen-year-olds' lives, as well as their whole town, were changed forever. This is definietly one to read over and over again, but I wouldn't go near it without a full box of Kleenex! As a fifty-seven-year-old Landon Carter says in the prologue, "First you'll smile, and then you'll cry. Don't say you haven't been warned."
Rating: Summary: Sweet and simple Review: I remember when I read The Notebook that I started crying and didn't even know it. No book has been like that since--except this one. It's quick, it's simple but that doesn't take away from the fact that Sparks has created the type of love story that we need right now. It's not about something tortured, no sex, no violence, no anger, just something that actually grew out of respect, and turned into the type of teenage love that we might remember and the type of adult love that we all hope for. Jamie Sullivan is the type of person we perhaps strive to be, and Landon Carter may be the type of person we really are--we have our flaws but recognize the beauty and goodness of those that are better than us and that make us want to be better people. Some may say that this book is too simple--but maybe it is us that has made things too complicated.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Book Review: This book is my favorite book of all time. It's heartwarming, sweet, and of course, very emotional. Most people who see the trailer for the movie will be like, ewww, it Mandy Moore or that looks really good! Well either way read this book! It will make you smile and cry and make you want to change your life. If your totally into love stories, don't pass this by! And, if your not into love stories, still read it! I am going to see the movie the day it comes out. The only thing I wish now is that I was more like Jamie and that somebody will love me as much as Landon did for Jamie. READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: get it out of the way turned to favorite ever Review: i went on a vacation and my english teacher forgot to tell me that i was supposed to read a book over the winter break which i would be part of the time i was on vacation. when i got back, she told me i had two days to read a book and do a book report. of course i was looking for any book that i could get over with quickly and wouldn't fall asleep reading. i spent the weekend i had to read the book cleaning my room, which involved moving my bookcase to my closet. on the way, like 10 books fell off including the readers digest 1999 collection of 4 best selling books in one, including A Walk To Remember. since the movie is coming out in a week and a half, and i was interested in seeing it, i thought it might be interesting to read it. so i thought "hmm, i'll read 10 pages an hour and i'll get it over with soon." that didn't work for me. after the first 20 pages, i became enthralled in the plot. it is such a sweet and thoughtful story. if you wish to know what this book is about, here is a basic summary of my book report:For a good laugh and cry, read: A WALK TO REMEMBER By Nicholas Sparks In the year 1958, Landon Carter's life changed forever. Landon lived in the southern town of Beaufort, North Carolina, and was a senior in high school. Jamie Sullivan was the daughter of the minister of Landon's church, and the nicest do-gooder the town had ever seen. A Plain Jane, Jamie was very religious, and always carried the Bible with her, and kids made fun of her a lot. They get to know each other when Landon finds himself asking Jamie to the homecoming dance, for the sole reason of him not having a date. After that, through the school play in which each have the lead roles opposite each other, Landon finds himself in love with Jamie. Jamie tells him that he is not allowed to fall in love with her, but he cannot help himself. From there, they become more serious, when Jamie reveals a secret that breaks Landon's and the whole town's hearts. Will Landon still love Jamie? To what extreme will he go to in order to prove it? Find out in this excellent, sweet and thoughtful book, to be remembered all your life. "Marvelous!" (u'd understand why i wrote "marvelous" if you read the book!!)
Rating: Summary: Nicholas Sparks dazzels us once again! Review: After reading Spark's "The Notebook" and "Message in a Bottle" I didn't think his books could get much better than that. But when I saw an ad for the movie "A walk to remember" (starring Shane West and Mandy Moore) advertised as being based on a book by Nicholas Sparks I immediatly managed to find a copy even though it had been sold out at all bookstores in my hometown for weeks. I picked it up and managed to read it in a record of 4 hours on and off. I loved the way Sparks developed his characters so they were like the average seventeen year old. Being sixteen it made it really easy for me to relate to the feelings felt by the protaganist, Landon. This book is the perfect gift for any teenager looking for a good read but make sure to curl up by the fire on one of those wintery night and don't forget the tissues!
Rating: Summary: A really quick read. Review: This was a sweet story. Anyone who is moderately spiritual will be inspired by Spark's character of Jamie. I'm interested to see how they portray her in the upcoming Mandy Moore movie.
