Rating: Summary: If you like the book, then you'll absolutely love the movie Review: When I first bought the book, I thought, "oh, no! another boring, sappy teen romance." I couldn't have been more wrong. This book is a coming-of-age story of Landon Carter, a rebellous senior in high school, and Jamie Sullivan, the intelligent, God-fearing girl who everyone makes fun of. Landon slowly begins to fall in love with Jamie as he spends more time with her after having to star in the school drama and after she convinces him to help out at the orphanage. He slowly sees her transform in his mind from a sweet, innocent, old-fashioned girl who doesn't care what anything thinks about her to someone who has faith in him and whose energy and love astound him. Together, their love for each other helps them to battle obstacles that cross their paths. Landon's immaturity and rebellousness gradually fades as he realizes how much he needs and loves Jamie. A guaranteed tear-jerker that will make you wanting a Landon of your own. I also highly recommend the movie even you don't like the book. The movie is absolutely incredible.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book Review: I just watched the movie and immediately set out to buy the book version of the movie. The movie was very good, but sad. I just had to see if the book version could live up to the movie verson; it did and actually surpassed it. Landon Carter and Jamie are a wonderful example of true love. While this book was a little unoriginial, it did not affect the quality of the book at all. It somehow made the predicatbleness into a good thing while reading this book. You'll want to read this book in one sitting I'm sure, but remember to bring a box of tissues for the end of the story. It's a hearwarming story that teaches us about love, happiness, change, and finally loss. Jamie changed Landon into a good person, and everyone should follow her example!
Rating: Summary: A Walk not worth remembering.... Review: To my disappointment, "A Walk to Remember" left me puzzled on how a writer gifted enough to pen "The Notebook" could turn out such a mediocre novel. This story is slow, predictable and lacks the creativity and story telling worthy of a best selling author. There is little to no character development and plot suspense. "A Walk to Remember" demonstrates a writer producing a novel which can easily adapted to the Silver Screen. No need to read this book... just wait for the movie.
Rating: Summary: Painfully Cliche Review: I admit, I read the thing in one sitting. I was mainly curious to see if the character of Jamie would develop at all, or if she would remain the insanely non-human kid that she was in chapter 1. (Which she did.) Jamie annoyed the heck out of me...NO ONE is that perfect. She didn't have a single fault, which made it really hard for me to relate to her. I mean, I understood the whole reject-from-society thing, and the love for her father, etc, but seriously, EVERYONE has some insecurities. She didn't. Also, the chemistry between her and Landen was seriously lacking, and the development of Landen's character was really cliche. One day the only thing that matters is that his friends don't see him with Jamie, the next, he's professing his undying love to her. Also, it was freakishly predictable from the very beginning. Don't get me wrong...A Walk to Remember is a nice story if you're really bored and strong enough to handle the corniness, but apart from that, I think my seventh grade cousin could have written it just as well as Nicholas Sparks.
Rating: Summary: If You're Lookin for a Book, Look No Longer! Review: A Walk to Remember is one of the best books I've ever read. It's about two seventeen year old kids, Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan. At first, they hardly know each other and Landon thinks Jamie is weird and crazy. Then, they fall in love. Things go pretty smoothly, but next tragic news is announced. Things change forever for Jamie and Landon. This is a book definately guaranteed to be one of your favorites!
Rating: Summary: A Book to remember!!! Review: I was at the bookstore looking for a book and since I'm in to romantic stuff I was looking for a romantic story, well then I saw this single book in the shelve "A walk to remember" and I looked at the first few pages and I totally liked it. So I decided to buy it, it took me three days to finish it and as I read the last page a last tear drop fell I was so touched by the way Landon Carter narrated the story. It really made me think a lot because love could really end up this way. I didn't even know that this book was going to be a movie, until two weeks later I saw the previews and I could tell already in the previews that a lot was changed in the movie, So until last night I saw the movie and it was awesome I liked it a lot but we all know that the book is always gonna be better than the movie...no doubt.
Rating: Summary: A memorable book Review: Nicholas Sparks has a rare talent. His mastery of the written word is best described as artful, clever, crafty, insightful and filled with emotion. There is an uncommon vividness one reads within the pages of his novels. He is an artist who paints a picture with words. Good writers can create pictures in one's mind; thus, giving the reader a feeling of watching a film rather than reading a book. I see this quality within the pages of A WALK TO REMEMBER.Another rare quality within the pages of A WALK TO REMEMBER is much more difficult to articulate. This novel brings forth an intense emotional reaction. As I read it, my mind returned to a time in which I felt less jaded. The feelings of "first love" experiences emerged. For a time, I felt younger and later yearned for a past where I embraced optimism in a loving relationship. "What could have been?" I privately asked in self-reflection. As I ponder on the plot within A WALK TO REMEMBER, I am pulled back to reality. My critical analysis suggests that this novel is nothing special. There are no big surprises in the story line. However, the profound elegance of this novel is not in the plot, but the grandeur of the author's ability to write and seduce the reader to unconsciously digging deep for emotions rarely felt. There is a quiet intensity within these pages. I have read all of Sparks' novels. None of his other books possess such an emotional reaction.
Rating: Summary: The Sweetest Love Story Ever Written Review: I read this book a few days before I saw the movie featuring Mandy Moore and Shane West. I wasnt expecting a whole lot from this book but I couldnt put it down! I read it in about 2 days! Its fantastic. Nicholas Sparks knows how to capture his audience. I highly reccomend this book to everyone...and when you are reading it be sure you are by your box of tissues!! Two of my friends have read the story after me and also loved it! This is a masterpiece...the best book I have ever read in my whole 12 years of life! I am going to the book store tomorrow to buy "A Message In A Bottle" and "The Notebook"! Please read A Walk To Remember.
Rating: Summary: Easy, Predictable Read Review: Hey, when I saw that the movie was actually a book, I went out and got it. It wasn't the best thing in the world but I was curious as to how it was gonna end. I didn't really care for parts of it, like the author's writing techs and stuff, but it was a cute story...HOWEVER...it was way predictable. The people fell in love way too fast and it was just boring. The whole thing ended too early too and if you asked me, this book should have been at least a couple hundred pages. That's why I took off two stars.
Rating: Summary: This book is truly amazing Review: This book was so good! Everything flowed together so nicely, I couldn't put it down. I think that if you are wondering weather ot not to purchase this book, I think that you should. I understand that this book might not be for everyone, but it tells the story of a fist love, that most of us can relate to, but this love is special, and as soon as you finish the book, you will realize how important she was to him.
