Rating: Summary: A Walk to Remeber: A Romantic Tragedy Review: Every April, Landon Carter always remembers the last year in Beaufort High School. It was 1958, when he dated a girl or two and even admitted he had been in love. But the last person he could ever fall in love with is Jamie Sullivan, the daughter of the town's Baptist minister. She was a quiet girl who carried her Holy Bible along with her shcool books daily. She seemed to be content living in a world different from the other teens. She was so innocent and certainly no boy ever asked her out. Landon would never dream to go out with Jamie. When the homecoming dance arrived, Jamie was asked by Landon and and that moment had changed Landon's life forever. Being with Jamie showed him the depths of a human's heart and lead him to a road so stunning that it would right away send him to manhood. To me this book was a unforgettable novel that tells a relationship about two couples has an everlasting love that nobody can break!
Rating: Summary: Why is the Author such a SELL OUT Review: I read the book first, wich took me three days. I then saw the movie right afterwards. The movie was very disappointing. It didn't potray the kind of relationship that Landon and Jamie really had together. It kept out all the things a christian would do. Like go to an orphanage, collect money and so on.... As for the movie I would have rather not have seen it. I was so upset on how they made the movie I cried in my car before actually going on with my day. I have never read a book so intense with feeling for another person before and for god... I have said my peace and I pray that next time Mr. Sparks writes another book that is possible for a movie write then he will not think of dollar signs and think of god and the others who actually enjoyed the story the way it was in the book.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book to remember!!!! Review: I bought this book one day because I thought instead of watching the movie first I would read the book. I am so glad I did this is my first Nicholas Sparks book that I have read. I read this book in less than a day, I feel in love with Landon along with Jamie. It made me think of when I was in school and how we all as humans take others forgranted and never give them enough respect. This book made me get mad, laugh, cry and not just cry weep all the way through the last 2 chapters of the book. It was an amazing heart warming story of Respect, Friendship, and most of all True Love! I would in courage everyone to read this book. The next day I went out and bought all of Nicholas Sparks books and I must say I can't put them down. I read The Notebook in one day-Wonderful and Then Message In A Bottle-also very good. Right now I am reading The Rescue and it looks like It to will be read in one day. A Walk To Remember, is still my favourite.....at this moment.
Rating: Summary: A Walk to Remember Review: Hands down, this is one of the best books that I've ever read. The gambit of emotions that this book will send you through is exactly predicted by the auther. He tells you that you'll laugh and then you'll cry and that's certainly what happened. The descriptive nature of Mr. Sparks writing makes you feel that you are living in small town America and that the warm North Carolina breezes are blowing in your face as you experience the joy and pains of the characters. YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: A walk to remember Review: The book A walk to remember was a really great book and one of my favorite books also. I think it should only be for teens though since it is such a sad and loving story and younger kids might not understand it. This book takes place in Beaufort, North Carolina in 1958 where Landon Carter (the main character) falls in love with the last person he ever thinks about. Landon is just the opposite of this girl. He is pretty rich compared to her, has a lot of friends, does drastic things, and is the school rebel. Jamie Sullivan is the girl that Landon falls in love with and is completely different from Landon. Jamie's mom pasted away, her father is the minister, she volunteers for everything, and isn't popular even though she is very sweet. Their relationship starts when Landon was forced to enter the school play where Jamie was there too. Landon started going over to Jamie's house every day to get help with his lines in the play and slowly, started to fall deeper and deeper in love. Now close to the middle of the book, Jamie made Landon promise not to fall in love with her but it happened. When Landon finally said "I love you," Jamie started crying for she was very sick and wasn't getting better anytime soon. My favorite part in this book was when they got married at the end because I couldn't believe that they would get married when they were only 17 and during that small time that they had together. My favorite character in this book was Jamie Sullivan becuase she was such a nice and strong girl and doesn't care what other people thought about her and I think someone has to be very secure with themselves for not caring like that. I really liked how Nicholas Sparks (the author) made Jamie and Landon's relationship switch back and forth from loving eacother, to not loving eachother. That made it more excitng for me and I never see that happen in other books so it was something I had never seen happen in a book before. I didn't like how the author made Jamie get so sick because before that, their relationship was so good until she got sick! Their relationship started very slow and ended too soon for me. It was a very touching, loving, and good book but I think that it's only for people 10 or over. I have never read any of Nicholas Spark's other books but I am sure that they are just as great as this one. This is because they might not understand it that well and it would be too sad for them even if they did understand it. A.G.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books i've ever read!!!!!!! Review: I first heard of this book about 1-2 months ago. I was surfing the net as usual, and I found out that Mandy Moore was going to be starring in a movie based on this book. One day, at school, i saw one of my friends holding the book. I didn't even know they sold it here! So i asked to borrow it, and she lent it to me.That Friday, I began to read the book. Once i started, I couldn't stop. It was amazing. Sure, maybe some parts weren't that realistic but it was great anyways. If you've seen the movie (I haven't!!I want to watch it sooooo bad! Ugh!!why do i have to live here!!?!?!?), then you'll realise they've changed it a bit. Landon Carter is a senior in high school, 17 years of age and like any other teenager. For that last year of high school, he decided to take an easy subject (what he thought was easy at least). He had chosen Drama Class (was it drama? eh..kinda forgot that little bit...), that was where everything began. Jamie Sullivan also took that class and that year she was going to starr in the play written by her father, the Minister/Priest... Landon is asked to play a major role in the play as a favor to Jamie. He accepts and so they spend a lot more time together. In the end, Landon discovers the one thing Jamie had not told him. Everything changes after that. There's more to it, but I don't wanna ruin it (*grins*) for people who are gonna read it. I found this story extremely sad. As a very emotional person i cried a lot throughout the book... Maybe you'll like it, Maybe you won't. but i thought this story was great, and i'm sure i'll never get tired of it!!~
Rating: Summary: A story that will hold a place in your heart forever! Review: When I first began to read this book, I assumed that it would be an ordinary book that would be just like the rest of the thousands out there. But I did one thing wrong. I assumed. This book is a touching story of love, hope and grief that you will remember forever. When Landon Carter, an average teenage boy, falls for Jamie Sullivan, the Minister's daughter, he encounters a few problems. When he finds out that Jamie is sick, he must learn to let go but still live. Throughout this book, you will laugh, cry and in the end smile. This heart-warming book about a girl who teaches others to live and to love will have a place in your soul forever.
Rating: Summary: A Walk to Remember Review: This book is about a girl named Jamie Sullivan and a guy named Landon Carter. Jamie is a type of girl that is made fun of by the people at school for the way she acts and dresses. She eyes a pastor's daughter and takes her Bible with her everywhere. Landon asks Jamie to the dance because everyone else was taken. He was the school president and needed a date. After the dance Jamie asked Landon to play a part in the Christmas play. Landon is made fun of by his friends or hanging out with a loser. Jamie and Landon start hanging out more and fall in love... I liked this book very much because this happens to some teens and its very realistic. This book is very fun and exciting you just cant put the book down. It is a very cute love story between two different teens. But some parts are very predictable. If you read this book I bet you would enjoy it very much. My favorite part of this book was when Landon told Jamie that he loved her. I also loved the part when Landon thinks of marrying Jamie, asked her, and she said yes...
Rating: Summary: DO NOT READ THIS BOOK Review: This is the first book I have read by Nicholas Sparks and I DO NOT plan to read another. This book was so sappy (i.e. Jamie, sweet Jamie, was dying . . . my Jamie . . .) and so unreal. The classic story of homely, plain girl falling in love with Mr. Perfect is completely ruined by Spark's undeveloping, uninteresting characters. The beginning especially, where Landon Carter (Mr. Perfect) starts narrating his story: "As if through someone else's eyes, I watch myself grow younger; I see my h air changing from gray to brown, I feel the wrinkles around my eyes begin to smooth, my arms and legs grow sineewy. Lessons I've learned with age grow dimmer, and my innocence returns as that eventful year approaches." Pulease. Couldn't you just take us back into your memories instead of time traveling?
Rating: Summary: Wow Review: This was such a sweet book. I read it after I watched the movie and I can't decide which is better!! I cried throughout the book! I would recommend it to anyone you is up for a good read!
