Summary: Disappointing
Review: I am a big fan of Nicholas Sparks, so I'm sad to say that I'm disappointed by his latest foray into the suspense genre. Sparks has the ability to create authentic and appealing characters caught up in life altering situations that are heartwrenching and compelling. In this work we have cardboard characters whose appeal to eachother is the only mystery to me. There is no suspense and the story rather than being emotional seems a parody of the romantic suspense genre with each character doing and behaving according to an established formula.

The history of each character is described in so dull a fashion that it is like reading a history text. The reader never feels the 'Sparks' that makes his previous novels so compelling. Read or reread one of Sparks previous books and wait for this one to come out in paperback.

Review: This book was fabulous ! I couldn't put it down. I love the ending, except the fate of Singer (the dog). I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes a romantic suspense.

Summary: The Guardian
Review: Nicholas Sparks is a very talented writer and has excelled in each of his previous books. While well written, The Guardian proved to be more suspenseful in a frightening way which I did not enjoy. I prefer to read a book for pleasure and relaxation. I did not find The Guardian relaxing. I have purchased all of Mr. Sparks' books in years past and have enjoyed each one tremendously. I will be more cautious when purchasing his books in the future.

Summary: I need a 12 step program! / For all K-9 lovers!
Review: Hi, I'm Robin and I'm a Sparksaholic!

The Guardian is Fantastic!!! Sparks, my favorite author, has took me over the edge with this one! I couldn't put the book down. I read it in the tub one night till the bubbles were gone, the water cold, and my skin shriveled like a rasin! Then I slept for a few hours only to wake up and allow it to take the place of my entire day. Although I love reading his books I am glad I get a break while he is writing a new one. (My husband, infant and pets wouldn't understand otherwise)

If you love animals, especially big dogs, this book is for you. As I was reading this book I noticed the similarity between Singer, a great dane, and my oversized black lab that past away this January. I was relieved that Sparks wrote about a dog who most of the time seemed to be a K-9 human. I know people thought I was nuts when I tried to explain my dog's behavior to them. Now I feel justified! Here's to you my sweet K-9 baby!

BUY THIS BOOK...YOU WONT BE SORRY!!!

Review: If you are looking for a good book to read this weekend, look no
further. This is an excellent love and suspense story. You will fall in love with Singer, the Great Dane in this story. Nicholas Sparks brings him to life. Enjoy!!!

Summary: AWESOME!
Review: I've been a fan of Nicholas Sparks ever since I read "A Walk to Remember" one night during high school and sobbed for a long time after it was finished.

Since then, I've read all of his novels and loved them. Several months ago, I read "Nights in Rodanthe" and wasn't all that impressed with it. It wasn't anything new or exciting, as all of his other books had been, and it seemed to be too much like "Bridges of Madison County." All in all, it was pretty predictable.

This year, being my first year in college, I have found myself reading a lot of books to fill my newfound free time. None, however, have even come close to "The Guardian." I admit I was a little worried that I would be disappointed like I was in "Nights in Rodanthe," but instead I was shocked at how great Spark's newest book turned out to be!

"The Guardian" is Spark's most suspenseful book so far. It's great to see that he is branching out into new territory. I couldn't put this book down, and enjoyed it very much. More than once I found myself on the edge of my seat, my heart pounding. It was great because it is unpredictable and takes many unexpected turns. He incorporates a suspenseful, terrifying tale of a man sick with obsession, paired with the touching love story of a young widow and her late husband's best friend.

Congratulations to Nicholas Sparks for writing a book that grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go. This is by far his most engaging, touching novel- a must read!

If you like Sparks, I would also suggest Kirk Martin's "The Shade of the Maple" and "The Gravel Drive". Kirk Martin is a wonderful author who cares very much about his readers and donates money to various charities. Both of his books are terrific. He's great at developing unexpected turns in his novels so the reader never knows quite what to expect.

A masterful joining of romance and suspense! For anyone that was disappointed by Sparks last novel, I suggest you pick up The Guardian to renew your love of Sparks! 5+ stars!

Summary: Not his best.
Review: With The Guardian, Nicholas Sparks has tried a new style or direction other than his usual type of story line. I was very disappointed in it, it lacked his usual indepth emotional side. He pulls his story lines from real life experiences and heartaches. His stories don't always have a happy ending, therefore, I don't know what to expect until the last twenty or so pages. I have read all of his books and will continue to in the future, but out of all of his works I am sorry to have to say I liked The Guardian the least. Please go back to what you know best.

Summary: Not Impressed!
Review: I realize that this was his first mystery romance but I would have liked a better mystery than a stalker. I loved the story line between Julie and Mike but the one with Richard was too weak and did not hold my attention. So instead of wanting the book to go on I could not wait to finish the book and lend it to someone else. I only hope that his next book is much better to make up for this last one.

Summary: All I can say is WOW
Review: Like most of the other readers that have written reviews, I too have read all of Nicholas Sparks books. Up until now I have had a hard time deciding which was my favorite. I lean towards A Walk to Remember, but then I start thinking how each and every one is special in its own right. Now along comes The Guardian. This is my favorite, hands down. I normally only read mystery/suspense books. However, his "romance" novels appeal to the heart and mind. The fact that he held true to that, plus added the suspense, well you just have to read it to see what I mean. You will not be disappointed.

I am also a cat lover, not a dog lover, but I sure would love to have Singer as a pet!!!!!
