Summary: FINALLY SPARKS MAKES SPARKS!
Review: I WAS GETTING DISCOURAGED. HALF WAY THRU AND NO THRILLS AS PROMISED.I was getting a little suspicious of Richard wooing Julie so intensely while her friend Mike held his love for her inside. Julie's Great Dane did not like the new guy but loved Mike. Singer, the dog, let Richard know his feelings that led to more plotting to getJulie's love. With a never before shown skill,Sparks throws the reader into intense drama and suspense along with thrills that keeps one reading as fast as possible. the action is fantastic as Sparks writes short sections covering Julie then Richard. then Singer, the police. back to Julieso you know what is going on with each person as the action builds to the climax. The best yet by Sparkssure to please the romantic reader and the one looking for thrills Ihope Sparks sticks to this form in his future booksas it's bound toattract more fans. Oh, you know how it ended? Read it to find outbcause you won't be disappointed. So why only 4 stars? It took him too long to get to the action part.

Summary: Predictable, Repetitive, Boring
Review: As I started reading this book, I felt as if I was reading in a style written for a young teenager. It is very simply written; with many comments and observations repeated over and over again. Once I got the rhythm of his writing style down, I started to skip every other page. I am not a fast reader but I was done with this book in one hour. The story is so predictable that you know exactly what will happen. The characters are fairly dull. It will probably be a movie of the week.

Summary: Amazing book
Review: This is truly the greatest book I've ever read! Sparks keeps you on the edge of your seat (and up until 2 a.m.) and always makes you want more. Julie and Mike are great characters, and Singer (the dog) really completes the book. Between the suspense, thrills, and romance, you can't put this book down... even if you tried!

Summary: Sparks ignite in Nicholas Sparks' new novel
Review: Nicholas Sparks has another winner in his new novel, "The Guardian". In this book, Sparks branches out as he very tastefully combines a love story and a suspenseful thriller.

The tears at the beginning and tears at the end are brought together with a middle full of frightening suspense and anxiety.

Pet owners, like me, are indulged in that "The Guardian" not only focuses on a love story between humans, but also on the love between a woman and her dog, a Great Dane named Singer.

Sparks cleverly plays with us as he builds suspense, layer on layer, which has both his characters and us looking over our respective shoulders.

Romance and suspense are equally represented, as they play against one another, in "The Guardian". This is a must read for all Nicholas Sparks fans.

Summary: A non-stop page turner
Review: Hi my my name is Rachel MacGowan, and I'm a senior in high school. I have always loved Nicholas Sparks since about my freshman year. I love the way he writes, and I like to read romance books, but not too romantic* :) This book was really good, I suggest that anyone who has not read The Guardian, should read it. I could not stop reading it, I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next... I definitely reccommend this book for others to read. I loved it! I'm letting my best friend read it. Thanks!

Summary: Formula Tearjerker
Review: I read 174 pages of this book and finally skipped to the last 20 pages because the relationships were shallow and the ending could be seen a mile away. If the plot is going to be obvious, the writing has to be special and Mr. Sparks just isn't there. Fortunately for him, he's got the name recognition that allows anything he writes to get on the bestseller list so he's got lots of time and money to try again.

Summary: His best to date
Review: I have read the following novels written by Nicholas Sparks in this order: THE NOTEBOOK, MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE, A WALK TO REMEMBER, THE RESCUE, BEND IN THE ROAD, NIGHTS IN RODANTHE, and finally THE GUARDIAN. In contrast to his previous work, Sparks significantly changed his overarching theme for this most recent novel. THE GUARDIAN has a very different tone. Sparks was wise to institute such a change in his storyline. I think such an effort challenged his mind and made a superb reading experience.

Sparks is well-known for writing love stories that have a degree of realism but also pushes the envelop of mushiness. In THE GUARDIAN, Sparks writes a story of the affections between a man and a woman. As common in his other novels, we witness several emotional triangles. Sparks is quite skilled in painting a picture with words that illustrates the emotional trauma when a third party is thrown into an emotional tie between two others. What makes THE GUARDIAN different is the element of suspense and peril in which the major and minor characters (including a dog) are placed in life threatening situations.

More than any other other of his novels, THE GUARDIAN illustrates Sparks' talent for writing. He develops several layers of emotional complexity, without being incoherent, and retaining the reader's interest. In many respects, THE GUARDIAN maintains the same level of complexity as Raymond Chandler's THE BIG SLEEP. However, Sparks is able to do a much better job than Chandler in keeping the reader focused. In many ways, it is quite amazing that Sparks was able to hold this storyline together.

Frankly, I think that THE GUARDIAN is Sparks' best work.

Summary: I have read all his books... they keep getting better!
Review: I have read each and every book Nicholas Sparks has put his name on and have been impressed with each one. I have re-read many of his books while waiting for his next book to come. I am always looking for good books to read and keep my interest and he is the only author I have found. He has this way of writing that truly brings out emotion. It is very true that his books envoke tears of his readers. In his new book, The Guardian, he has added mystery to his usual love story outline and if you ask me, he has done this quite well. I would recommend any of Mr. Sparks to anyone who is looking for a love story. If you're looking for one of those cheesy romance novels, keep looking... His stories have way too much emotion and character development. An excellent writer all around.

Summary: A Sweet Story
Review: Nicholas Sparks at his best. This book is quite different from his others and having read all his books, I believe this is his best by far. His characters are real, and I related to them easily. Singer is, of course, a favorite! Naturally, as with all Sparks' books, it's a tearjerker so be sure to have a box of tissues handy. Once started, you will find The Guardian hard to put down until the end. Enjoy!
