Rating: Summary: Ahh Review: Such a romantic love story, written at a different view, so beautifully again. The book was harder for me to get into, being a young reader, but I love how the words just flow together into this novel. I really did enjoy it, and I suggest any Sparks fan to read it.
Rating: Summary: Life's Reality... Rediscovery of love... Review: Nicholas Sparks provides an in-depth story to follow his earlier book - THE NOTEBOOK, extending the story of Noah & Allie. In simplistic fashion using descriptive words and conversations, the author writes as though the character (Wilson) who narrates is talking directly to the reader, burrowing inside the characters creating an impossibility not to get involved in the story. The author's simplistic style is poetic, heartwarming, and beautiful... as if reading a letter from a friend, a relative, or being told about 'a life' in person - one-on-one.Written in the first person, narrative style, author Nicholas Sparks takes the reader through a story of love, joy, sadness, laughter, tears & hope, with love to be rekindled. The story evolves around a married couple in their early to mid 50's... Jane - falling out of love, and Wilson - the narrator, who desires to recapture the "magic" of why they originally got married. Wilson begins his soul-searching, admitting to and identifying his frailties as a husband & father - working long hours while spouse Jane tends to the children through their growing years with a passion. Wilson and Jane come from two different types of families who reared their children differently... Wilson is more or less a loner, left to create his own way albeit strong and intelligent... from parents who were "busy" with their own careers and talents; Jane is raised with siblings by parents who spend a lot of time with children, instilling manners in them which are carried forth by Jane and her siblings into their own marriages. Jane is grounded in Southern roots, God & family, with confidence that is instilled in children Anna, Joseph & Leslie. Wilson admits that their children had been nurtured from babyhood to adulthood mostly by their mother. Knowing that something is amiss in his marriage -- each living separate lives, with a wall of indifference between himself and Jane, Wilson embarks on a search which leads to varying decisions and methods of re-courting Jane; the journey takes him back in time, searching to the days when they first met. Wilson questions the reasons why Jane married him in the first place, why did she choose him? This reader is compelled to provide potential readers of this tome with a few of Sparks' quotes: "When the next brilliant flash illuminates the sky, I often find myself filled with longing, though I'm at a loss to tell you what it is that I feel my life is missing." "But Love... is more than three words mumbled before bedtime. Love is sustained by action, a pattern of devotion in the things we do for each other every day." How can this writing not be a page turner with the flow from page-to-page coaxing the reader to "hear" how the conversation ends. Thank you Nicholas Sparks for this beautiful read and gracious 'Swan song'.
Rating: Summary: Great book for entertainment Review: Let's face it, we want to be entertained! This is no literary prize winner, but it is a fun book and it is easy to read. I thought the characters believable and the situation believable. My children are grown and I can see where some of these feelings come from. Maybe it was a little slow in parts, but the ending was worth it. I am tired of all the stories that end tragically or just end..... Bravo Mr. Sparks. Continue on.....
Rating: Summary: Not What I Hoped For Review: I have thoroughly enjoyed Nicholas Sparks' books in the past. I was thrilled to hear that Nicholas Sparks had written a sequel to "The Notebook". However, I was really disappointed after reading the "The Wedding". I was tempted several times to just give up on it and put it down. It has a nice ending but still doesn't come close to being anywhere near as well written as "The Notebook". I kept waiting for the story to takeoff but it really never really seemed as if it was going anywhere. I still consider "The Notebook" as my favorite romance novel ever! "The Wedding" is definitely not what I had expected and not what I had hoped for as a sequel!
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down!! Review: I made a New Year's resolution to do more reading (I'm a stay at home mom with 2 kids and little "intellectual stimulation") and the librarian recommeded this book. I was immediately sucked in and I loved every chapter. It is an easy read which was helpful since I only had a few minutes here and there to read it. I couldn't put it down. It was my first Nicholas Sparks book and I can't wait to read the Notebook next. I agree it would make a great Valentine's present from any guy out there looking to impress his wife. I thought it was fantastic !
Rating: Summary: Very disappointed Review: I absolutely Love Nicholas Sparks, but his was a huge disappointment. It was so slow and boring, it was painful for me to finish. Not to mention it was predictable. Had I not been such a fan, I would have not finished it. I can't believe I spent the money on a hardback.
Rating: Summary: Left me disappointed Review: I love Nicholas Sparks' books, but I was disappointed in The Wedding. The book started off very slow and I almost put it down. After the first several chapters or so, I did become more captivated and was intrigued with what was gong on, as I felt that Wilson, the main character was up to something! The story is told though Wilson; so the dialogue is kept to a minimum and Wilson, trying to recapture the love in his marriage, reminisces about his courtship and marriage with his wife, Jane. Wilson realizes through the entire flashback, that he was unable to truly show and verbalize his love for Jane. The ending is indeed a surprise and was very touching and sweet. But this is not one of Sparks' better books. I absolutely sobbed though The Notebook, which this book is a sequel to, but this book was dry and flat in most places. Sparks is a great romance writer, but I felt that this book was not up to his usual stellar self. It is not a bad book..........don't get me wrong! Just not one of his usual gems!
Rating: Summary: Romantic Review: What a great book to read with Valentines Day around the corner. This book is a feel good book. The characters are warm and real. I couldn't stop recommending this to my friends.
Rating: Summary: Will probably disappoint Sparks' fans Review: I have read all of Nicholas Sparks' books and this one by far is my least favorite. It's easy reading but I found it to be pretty boring, but somehow finished it because I was hoping it would get better. It by far has no comparison to The Notebook even though he has related the two. I'm not sure why this book has an average of 4 Stars. The only thing I can figure is the people rating it have not read his other books and have nothing to really compare it to. It's not AWFUL, but I can't say I'd really recommend it either. I think it will really disappoint Sparks' favorite fans. Christy (age 27) Orlando, Florida
Rating: Summary: Yet, another excellent read from Sparks!! Review: The Wedding was a great read! It pulled me in from the beginning. Nicholas Sparks love stories are always so pure and this one is no exception. A good reminder how to treat that special someone in your life, not to take for granted the love you feel for them but to show them and tell them daily. It's not too late to make up for it if you have....Very Romantic!!
