Summary: Ransom
Review: Like the Editor who reviewd this book, I too keep telling myself that this will be the last Danielle Steel novel and I go right back and order her latest.

This one was disappointing and seemed very simply written. It was however, a lot better than her last few books.

I saw a lot of repitition also and I am not an editor.

Looking forward to Second Chances in the hopes that it is a vast improvement.

Summary: Danielle Give me a break
Review: My husband has a theory that Danielle Steel has a dart board and each circle surrounding the center is labeled either, falls in love, loses family member, has death of loved-one,fights for life of herself or loved one, loses partner, business or spouse. He feels when she is at a loss she justs throws off a dart and whatever she hits becomes the outline for her next book.
I have been a loyal fan for many many years and take his kidding with a smile and secretly pray he's not right.
This book proved me wrong and he was right all these years.
It was so obvious from the first few pages what was happening that I was certain I had read this story before somewhere. After having waited long time to get this book from my local library I was so disappointed that it was so poorly written and so badly not thought through I couldn't even read it completely, but skipped sections to finish it, knowing what was going to happen before I got to it.

Summary: oops
Review: Never read a Danielle Steele before, but I was trapped on vacation without any other reading material, so what the heck, I'll try anything once. The best I can say is it took less than three hours to read. Other than that, I just don't get it. Bland characters, overused plots, stilted dialoque, unbelievable coincidences and absolutely nothing new. Okay, some might say it's "chick lit", but I have much more respect for women readers than that. Simply put, "Ransom" was awful. I don't get how Steele is such a popular author, or have I just hit it when she has lost her gifts, the literary equvilant of "jumping the shark."

Summary: Worthless waste of time
Review: Normally I don't write books reviews but this book was so horrendous that I felt I needed to warn other Danielle Steel fans.
I have read all of Danielle Steels books and but this is one of the most poorly written books ever by anyone. The idea is good but the entire book needs to be rewritten by someone else. It seems the editor and publishing house didn't care what was inside the cover as long as it had Danielle Steel wrote on the front. I wonder if the editor even looked at this book?!?!?!

Summary: very suspenseful
Review: Ransom is a book that starts out slow, but in the end all the reading pays off. Peter Morgan, a good guy gone bad, just gets out of jail and is forced to find a job. He calls on the up-to-no good Phillip Addison for help. The job he has for him is one that will make or break him. He is to kidnap dot-com millionare Allan Barnes's children. Fernanda his wife is left with nothing after the death of Allan. This book is wonderful in the sense that when the kidnapping takes place you see it from everyone's angle. I recommend the book to anyone.

Summary: A bit frustrating ....
Review: Ransom is the first Danielle Steel novel I've read in a long time, and though I finished it, I don't think I'll be looking for any more.

The plot itself was great - it is an intrigueing tale with many possibilities and likable characters. But reading it became so tedious... she is so very repititious, and her writing seemed to be geared toward elementary-aged children. I also found myself wondering about her editor, as another reviewer here did. I would find myself frustrated with her never-ending descriptions of the characters' feelings, and then had to hear most of them all over again.

All in all, it was very handy when I was in bed and wanted to get sleepy!

Summary: Could've Been Better
Review: The concept and plot was a good idea but it could have been writting with more excitement. There were too many pages that just sat flat and lifeless where it could have really been good. Definitely not one of her better ones.

If you're looking for a different and exciting novel, read LUST OF THE FLESH by Beverly Rolyat. A story about district attorney, Nick Allapapalaus, who finds himself caught up in a web of lust, deceit, mystery, suspense, betrayal, murder and sex galore. Is he really the biological father of his ex-wife's promiscuous teenage daughter's infant son? Or has he been set up? Read it and enjoy!

Summary: A fun poolside read
Review: This is a quick read and fans of Steel's work will enjoy it. Granted it may not be her best, but it's certainly not her worst.
It's a fun poolside read. Debbie Farmer, parenting columnist and author of 'Don't Put Lipstick on the Cat!'
