Rating: Summary: A "Down Home Trip" for Me! Review: I loved this book! I have lived in Kentucky for quite some time and love the "small town" feeling. I really picked up the same atmosphere in the book. The problems that we all struggle with from time to time was shown but in a rather milder way. This book was "right at my doorsteps!" I recommend it!
Rating: Summary: A short-story dressed up as a novel. Review: In a couple of Ms. Karon's other efforts she has produced small short stories and sold them as such to those who will buy anything with the word MITFORD on it. But this was sold as a novel at full price. As I love recorded books I got it from the library as an audio and lost no money on it. But I think it is most definatly dishonset to bill this as a NOVEL just to pry full price from the wallets of her faithful readers. LOW BLOW JAN! Your readers dserve better. I still eagerly await her last book but will make sure it IS a TRUE novel before I buy it.
Rating: Summary: I love to "visit" Mitford! Review: I loved Shepherds Abiding, just as I have loved all of the Mitford novels. They're so sweet and refreshing. If you're into sex and violence, you probably won't like the Mitford novels. But if you would like a relaxing little trip to a town kind of like Mayberry, you'll love Mitford. I recommend reading them all IN ORDER. I'll be sad when Jan Karon writes the last one.
