Summary: easy read
Review: Like many reviewers, when I read this book most of it seemed familiar, like I'd read the same story with other characters. The reason I'm giving this book three stars is because there were some things about the book I liked, and some I didn't.
First of all, no woman, not even a supermom, could manage five kids, and a heavy-load law practice by herself, with just a part time housekeeper. I also didn't think that the younger boy seemed handicapped, he seemed to actually be quite intelligent. I liked the character of the doctor at first, but then he runs out on her and ends the relationship just because her daughters are nasty to him because they're not over their father's death? And then he just suddenly shows up at the end of the book, like nothing happened! Also, I didn't feel like the author really finished the story, it seemed like it ended too soon.
On the plus side, however, I felt the author did an accurate portrayal of how the kids reacted to their mother dating again, I would expect in that situation that some would be for it, some against. I also liked the characters in the story, especially Peter. Liz's grief was also played out very realistically.
Overall, it's a good book to read if you need to pass some time but I wouldn't spend money on it.

Summary: Hm...
Review: I can't recall this book off the top of my head. I think I've read it, but am not sure. And seeing as how I can't recall, it couldn't have been all that good.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: liked it very much
Review: I liked this book very much. As I was reading this book, I was putting myself in their place and I was almost crying through the whole book. I will read another Danielle Steel book soon

Summary: When life gives you lemons......
Review: This book will not go down in history as great literature, but it is certainly an enjoyable, emotional, engrossing experience. Since life can turn any of us upside down at any moment, it is easy to relate to how it would feel to lose one's stability and life partner. Some characters were developed better than others. For instance, I never got any sense of the girls as individuals although the boys are very real. However, I think the author wanted there to be five children to give a sense how overwhelming it would be to parent them alone. As usual with this author, money was no problem which would not be the case in most families, but it did allow a little more time to focus on the relationships. Great book for a vacation, a rainy day, or a day at the beach--any time you want to be carried away and not forced to think too hard.

Summary: Very good
Review: I have read at least 25 of Ms Steel's books and this is one of my favorites. Very easy to read and interesting enough to keep me turning the pages until I finished it. Very entertaining.

Summary: Imagery in House on Hope Street
Review: The book, House on Hope Street, by Danielle Steel was strong in the use of literary devices. The story didn't have strong symbolism. But the author did a great job in the imagery of the story. The book was addicting due to the author great work in imagery and personification. She made the characters come to life and seem real to the reader. The characters were believable and although they are fictional characters, they related back to everyday life.
The imagery throughout the book was amazing. The other used a lot of imagery when describing emotions, the setting, appearance, etc. The imagery portrayed the characters well and made them believable, easy to relate back to oneself. Without the imagery this book wouldn't have been interesting at all, it kept the reader on task and allowed for them to create pictures in their minds.
Symbolism played absolutely no role in this book at all. While reading the imagery was so well done that the symbolism was left out. The only symbolism in the book was the ones relating to the characters and descriptions. The book needs to have more symbolism, especially towards the end of the book where it was lacking symbolism all together.
Also the reality that is in the book allows reader to relate to the characters and understand what the characters are feeling. Many people enjoy reading about things that would occur in everyday life, to themselves or to the people around them. In this book it is easy for the reader to believe a character and to be interested in entering a story in their life. Danielle Steel does a great job in capturing the reader's attention in the reality of each character.
In conclusion the author used many literary devices well but was lacking symbolism which affected the book overall. Symbolism is an important part to play in a novel. But the author made up for it in the imagery which was put together well. The imagery in this book is what makes it so enjoyable and addicting to read. The humanlike reality of the characters and the story was well depicted and therefore allowed the reader to develop a relationship with the character.

Summary: Hope Lives
Review: This book makes you think how short life can be, The friends you make along the way and how fast things can change in your life.
When I started reading this book I could not put it down! I just couldn't believe her husband was shot and he dies after 19 years of being together. Hope is one thing you must never lose!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Believer in Love
Review: True love never dies only people. Danielle Steel makes us all belive in love again after Liz's husband is killed brutally. The doctor that saves her son's life after an awful accident makes her know that true love can exist more than once in a life time.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: emotional
Review: House on Hope Street is shorter than most of Danielle Steele's novels but that does not take away from the content. This is an emotion packed story about how a woman with a career and several children deals with the murder of her husband on Christmas Day.
With a strong "if only" feel to it, the story leads the readers on her journey back to some sort of peace. One of her children has special needs which adds to her difficulties but the love between the mother and this child is tremendous.

The protagonist meets another man who is commitment phobic and she tries to sort out her feelings about that as well.
House on Hope Street is about hope, healing and picking yourself up when you are down. A good read.

Summary: The House on Hope Street
Review: Liz Sutherland leads a charmed life at the beginning of The House on Hope Street by Danielle Steel. She is married to a lawyer who specializes in divorce cases and shares the pratice with him. They are successful, in love, and have five children. One of the children is a special needs child, but that is the only minor flaw in Liz's life.
One Christmas morning, Liz's life changes forever. The family begins the day like every other Christmas. Then Liz's husband goes to his office to pick up some paperwork when an angry former client's husband confronts and kills him. The violent and unexpected death of Jack Sutherland is devastating for the family. The next year is full of sadness and challenges for the remaining Sutherlands.
After Jack's death, it is difficult for the family to go on. They force themselves to go back to school an dwork and gradually get into a routine. The youngest son feels that no one can fill his dad's place as his coach for the Special Olympics, but LIz takes over while maintaining the same case load at the office. Jamie actually does better at the Games than he had ever done before.
Summer comes and the girls go to camp. The oldest son, Peter, works at a vets' office. Life is beginning to return to normal when Peter is seriously injured in a pool. Liz is by her son's side throughout the ordeal and Peter eventually recovers. Liz and his doctor, Bill Webstr, begin dating. The relationship ends when the daughters are cruel to Bill and he is not willing to continue.
Liz and her children are miserable when the first Christmas season after Jack's death comes. Nothing will ever be the same for any of them. Just when everyone thinks that life cannot get any worse, the doctor shows up and they all decide it is time to start over. Even the girls agree. Once again the family ends in happiness.
The book is a typical Danielle Steel novel. The characters are too good, too attractive, and too rich to be real. The reader knows that whatever adversity there is will be overcome. However, the book is readable and it is nice to know when you read one of her books that the characters will live happily ever after
