Summary: Three Wishes Yet to Come True
Review: Having never heard of Barbara Delinsky, I wasn't sure whether or not her novel Three Wishes would be any good. To be honest, my mother recommended the book as a quick and easy read. Three Wishes is an incredible love story filled with both miracles and tragedy. Bree Miller of the sleepy little town Panama, Vermont, is walking home from work when she is hit by the unexpected truck which had skidded in the snow. She wakes up in the hospital where she remembers only a bright light and three wishes. She falls in love with Tom Gates, the driver of the truck and a struggling author. Ultimately, their relationship causes the greatest challenge and sacrifice of unconditional love. Delinsky uses a mixture of complex characters which differ enormously, yet all play major roles in the story line. She uses a descriptive style of language with a considerable amount of dialect to allow the reader to better understand the characters and their lifestyle in Vermont. Delinsky uses metaphors and symbolism to help reveal a clear and deeper meaning to the characters thoughts and feelings as well as the incidents which occur. She uses situational irony to create suspense of what will happen later on in the novel. Delinsky also uses a mass amount of imagery which leaves you with a clear picture of Panama, Vermont and the people who live there. This is a sentimental love story with a sappy ending, which explains that love overcomes all things in life, even the greatest tragedies. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to all.

Review: I absolutely loved Three Wishes! I've read the book at least five times, but it never bores me. It's a great story with all the essential ingredients -- love, tragedy, humor... If you've never read this book, you should! It won't let you down.

Summary: So Sad But So Good
Review: This story really got to me at the end. I could feel the pain of each of the characters as though the situation was really happening. The book is about a couple that falls in love with each other and were made for each other. Feelings of distrust must be overcome. I can't say much more without being unfair to those who have not read the book. I will just say there are a few suprises toward the end of the book. This is a MUST READ book.

Review: Having read nearly all of Barbara Delinsky's books and enjoying them all, if I had to choose one that has touched me the most, it would have to be "Three Wishes". As their relationship grows, Tom and Bree reveal their true, inner most thoughts, feelings and fears to one another. Ultimately, their relationship presents the greatest challenge and ultimate sacrifice of unconditional love. Have tissues in hand while reading this wonderfully, touching story.

Summary: I absolutely LOVED this book!
Review: It has been several years since I read this book and it still ranks as one of my all-time favorites. Yes, it is sad at the end, but that's one of the reasons I liked it - it was so different from other romances. I tend to like mysteries, so I wasn't sure how I would like this book. Was I ever surprised. This was the first book I read by Barbara Delinsky and I am now a big fan. Every book I have read of hers, I've really enjoyed, but this one was my favorite so far.

Summary: A breezy one-day read
Review: I read this one in a day after a co-worker recommended it to me. I started and thought it would be this great love story, and it was. I was truly inspired by Bree and Tom. Near the end, I started to get worried, and I kind of knew what would happen in the end, and at that point, I almost didn't want to finish the book because I didn't want to be let down. Once I was done (I DID end up finishing it) I couldn't come up with even a spiritual reason why things had to happen like they did. My opinion of Bree changed to from liking her very much and being emotionally involved with her, to thinking she was a very selfish and stupid woman. I really felt for Tom. He broke my heart and he ended up being the hero for me. I don't know how many more of this authors books I would try if they all are like this. I don't have to have a neat, happy ending, but at least have a good reason!

Summary: I like most of her books, but I hated this one
Review: I bought this book when it came out in hardcover on the strength of the rest of Delinksy's books, which I would describe as featuring well-defined characters and being more complex and better written than the average romance. This book isn't a romance, though, unless you like your romances to have desperately sad endings. But the sad ending wasn't my biggest complaint. My big complaint was that to get anything out of the ending other than outrage that the author wrote it, you have to place so much importance on having "natural" children that you don't believe that two people who love each other could have a wonderful life together without them. I have "natural" children now but there was a time when I wondered if I ever would, and I found the underlying attitude of this book offensive.

Review: I WAS VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT A GOOD STORY HAD TO BE TAINTED WITH UNESSCESSARY SEXUAL DESCRIPTIONS--I AM DEFINITELY NOT AND OLD PRUDE, BUT DO FIND SUCH PASSAGES RUINOUS OF THE OVERALL BOOK--AFTER ALL, WHY, O WHY DO SUCH THINGS HAVE TO BE INCLUDED?? THE PLOT COULD DO VERY NICELY WITHOUT THEM. THE SEXUAL DESCRIPTIONS ADD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AND IN NO WAY AFFECT THE FUTHERANCE OF THE STORY LINE. I, FOR ONE, GET VERY WEARY OF ENCOUNTERING SUCH PASSAGES. I THEREFORE, HAD TO RATE THE BOOK ONLY A THREE. OTHERWISE, IT IS A GOOD STORY, TOLD IN A GENTLE WAY...........IF THE AUTHOR WOULD JUST REALIZE THAT SOME THINGS ARE BETTER LEFT TO THE IMAGINATION!
