Summary: Working Overseas - Opportunities and Challenges
Review: Peter and Nancy Juge worked overseas in eight different countries, first with the U. S. State Department and then with Mobil Oil Company. They and their two children met many challenges, made many friends, and thoroughly enjoyed the varied experiences in these countries. This book provides a brief review of the countries in which they lived, the work and life they experienced, and a number of the lessons they learned. A brief chapter at the end emphacizes some lessons from overseas life they suggest others may care to consider before embarking on overseas assignments, particularly with young children. A truly interesting book by an intelligent and experienced family. The author emphacizes throughout that " any damned fool can make himself uncomfortable" and describes many facets of coping with problems in countries where problems abound for the visitor. We found this book first rate in describing opportunities and challenges of overseas life while working for U. S. based employers.
