Rating: Summary: Santa Fe New Mexican Review: Thousands of photographers took probably millions of photos and one result is New Mexico 24/7. Other results include a book for each state -- Arizona 24/7, Wyoming 24/7 and so on.
In New Mexico, 37 photographers fanned out across the state shooting pretty much what they wanted. For Santa Fe photographer Marcia Keegan, the week coincided with another event she was involved with. "I was organizing a visit of Tibetan Monks to Chaco Canyon and I told them (the 24/7 project directors) that that's what I would be submitting, and they said OK," Keegan said.
The 24/7 project did present her with some new experiences, though. She heard about the project from a woman in California who asked if Keegan had experience with digital photography. Keegan didn't, but she told the woman she did. After working with the medium through the equipment provided Keegan now is committed to digital. "I have to thank the book for turning me into a digital photographer." She also found the assignment itself a challenge.
"It's interesting when we're limited to one week," she said. "It's interesting we can capture the scope of America within a week."
