Summary: The book is fun to read - and more fun to do.
Review: After spending 25 years being politically correct a fortune cookie set me on a new path: "preserve wild life - throw more parties." More than just parties, this book is about the 100 most fun places to be in the world at the right time, where people come together for one common purpose - to have fun. To begin, I hope people have fun reading the book, while at the same time being impressed with the incredible amount of detail. The 50 North American event destinations have one-page overviews, a complete 3-day itinerary, and a Hot Sheet listing the hottest hotels, restaurants, night life and must-see attractions. There are also 16 Junos ("did you know") covering topics from the biggest state fairs, food festivals, barbecues and amusement parks to chasing supermodels. One indicator of fun is people smiling, and I hope this book gives each of you plenty to smile about. Have FUN! Alan Davis

Unfortunately, the information provided does not tell you that this is a 1999 guide but it is. This guide is tailored to specific events and dates in 1999. Don't waste your time or money.

Summary: This guidebook is actually 3 incredible guidebooks in 1!
Review: The Fun Also Rises provides information found nowhere else. It is actually 3 guidebooks in 1. First, the FunGuide 100 lists all 100 of the most fun places to be in the world at the right time, with critical details such as event dates and best travel dates, and thumbnail sketches. Calendars for 1999 and 2000 list events for every week of the year! Next, there are overviews and 3-day itineraries for each North American event, including ticket information, in order to make going to these events as easy as possible and insure that you get the most out of your vacation. Last, but not least, each destination has a Hot Sheet listing the hottest hotels, restaurants and night life, and must-see attractions, with phone numbers, insider tips, and price ranges. There are over 1200 recommendations! The broad range of events covered, from The Calgary Stampede to the Hookers' Ball, from Mardi Gras to the Memphis in May Barbecue, from the Fourth of July in Philadelphia to St. Patrick's Day in Savannah, Georgia, makes this book great fun to read, and more fun to do.
