Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: TOO FUNNY Review: After a long time I read a travelogue that was not just brilliantly descriptive and entertainingly informative - but also tickled my funny bone. More than a travelogue, it is a literary book. The author describes landscapes with a flourish of a painter and expresses emotions like a poet. The choice of words is excellent. Through the characters of Timur, Chingiz Khan, Huen Tsang and Milarepa, he takes you back in time and relates the past to the present political situation in Central Asia, Chinese Turkestan and Tibet. The book has about 100 B&W photographs and 16 pages of color plates, each telling a tale.
