Review: As someone born on the Eastern Shore, I can say that this book was a joy to read. It gave me some perspective on the history of the Eastern Shore, although I think sometimes got bogged down in esoteric details of little interest to most readers. The real benefit of this book was the outsider's view of the culture. The author does a fine job of characterizing the people of the Eastern Shore, and for that alone this book is worth reading for the interested insider or outsider.
