Summary: Another gem from Jim Miles!
Review: Author of "To the Sea", "Fields of Glory", & "Piercing the Heartland", all part of the awesome Civil War Campaign Series, Jim Miles outdid himself with this wonderful summary of the bloody & decisive battles in Tennessee, from Stones River to Nashville. Not only are the battles summarized, there are also sections on interesting leaders of both sides as well as great eyewitness accounts. There are many photos & illustrations from the Civil War as well as modern photos of the battlefields. And thankfully, there are plenty of clear & accurate maps for each battle. This book is essential for Civil War buffs studying the battles/campaigns in Tennessee & is perfect for those who want to tour these battlefields to get a clearer picture. You can read several great books on the battle of Chattanooga, but there's nothing like standing on top of Lookout Mountain!
