Summary: Essential reading for visitors to the "BIG APPLE"
Review: I borrowed a copy of this book in 1994 when i visited NYC for the first time in about 35 years. Flying in on the plane from Dallas, I formed an itinerary , decided where to eat, sleep and be entertained, and it worked perfectly. Last year - 1998 - i visited again, but couldn't find the book for "love nor money" in the UK - then I discovered Amazon.com and had it mailed in within days.... Once again i was delighted by the book,( and the ones on L.A. London, and Paris too by the way). It is absolutely ideal for finding your way round a new city -ENJOY! ( THE END ) ( can I have my cheque now please Mr Editor,.....)

Summary: Do not buy this book, you CAN get better.
Review: I briefly saw the review under mine, and I agree. This book isn't the best guide book I have bought - and I wouldn't reccomend it to others. Sure, it has some ok reviews of places to eat and shops, but not a lot else. The layout isn't that appealing or friendly to use and I HAVE seen better. Usually I buy "Lonely Planet" (I dont know why I didnt this time! ) so if going to New York city, I dont think you should buy this book. "Lonely Planet" guides are a lot easier to read and include EVERYTHING you need to know. Anyways, this is just my opinion, I'm a traveller and I wanted a good travel book and this didn't provide.

Summary: the most user-friendly guidebook to the Big Apple!
Review: I have used every edition of this book on my many visits to New York City. Organizing a city guidebook geographically makes so much sense, whether someone is visiting for the first time or the 50th time. I also like the general tone of the writing--if the hotel or restaurant has a problem, the reader can find out without too much difficulty. And finally, I like the input from various New York celebrities--one can tell how much they love New York!

Summary: Acces guides are simply the best guides book money can buy.
Review: I own several guide books about different cities in North America. Because of the color coded set up, you'll find in access guides, one can find information extrenly fast. it's an extremly handy guide, even if you happen to know a city. Don't buy any other guide book.

Summary: Access New York City - the best!!
Review: I purchased the Access New York City guide earlier this year for my first trip to the Big Apple. My trip was made quite easy by the Access guide, which is incredible when you consider the complexities of New York City. It really is complete and just about all you need for a successful trip. Highly recommended!

Summary: Best book on NYC there is!
Review: I'm sure there might be a couple of books that come close to this one, but I doubt it. The format is so easy to follow (all the stuff is color coded type through the book by restaurant, hotel, etc..) that all you need is a highlighter pen and your airline ticket. Travelers who enjoy the non-touristy things will enjoy this book because there is a ton of info on things outside the norm, and info on the sublime, such as a block of row houses that should be seen. HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!

Summary: Access Travel guides are the best.
Review: Just want to quickly say I have used many guides, and none beat Access. I have gotten to know NYC very well and really don't need a new guide book, but every two years I get a new ACCESS NYC anyway.

Summary: Wonderful, very, very helpful!
Review: This is a wonderful book with phone numbers, bus and subway maps, easy to follow sections, complete index not only by alpha but by topic. For visiting New York City, you don't need any other book!

Summary: Not that great
Review: Used to Fodors and Lonely Planet books, I thought I'd try this one as it came so highly recommeded. I found it to be disorganized, with an awful index. There was very little history or neighborhood information that I'm so used to with the other travel books. It also doesn't keep restaurants, museums, hotels, etc. separate in the listings; it's very easy to miss stuff. Some of the restaurants have their logo above their review, which makes me wonder if some of them paid for placement. When we got to New York, we left the book in the hotel room and successfully relied on advice from the concierge, cabbies and just wandering around. Personally, I'd recommend Lonely Planet or Fodors!
