Review: For the first time, someone has reduced the difficult-to-understand Japanese visa system into a rational analysis. The book covers the thinking behind the Japanese immigration system then goes into an excellent nuts-and-bolts definition of each visa type and how to use it.

My only complaint about the book is that in an effort to provide legitimate information, the author has skipped useful information about the strategies of applying for a particular visa when you are a borderline case, and also the mechanics/practicalities of getting a new Japanese landing permit by travelling to Seoul or Hong Kong instead of going all the way home.

But overall, this book is essential if you're planning to move to and live in Japan.
