Review: In 1995 I wrote my final thesis about travelling and the culture encounters travelling involves. Murphy's work was a great inspiration. At an early stage, he had a clear understanding for the necessity of taking into account the implications of tourism on the community. Now, I find myself in the centre of decision-making - how to plan regional tourism development in the future and I recall Murphy's work. And want to know- has he done more work of a similar kind on social and cultural impacts of tourism. This, I think, is the best recommendation a book can get.
