Description:

Buy Fodor's Exploring Mexico for the pretty pictures, handsome design, and excellent thumbnail history of Mexico; do not buy it for the listings of accommodations and restaurants, which are skimpy and sequestered in the back of the book like an afterthought. Likewise, the background sketches of cities and towns are organized alphabetically within regions rather than geographically, making it difficult to visualize and plan an itinerary. That said, Fodor's provides a colorful overview of Mexican destinations. The photographs are exquisite, the maps unusually readable, and special sections focus on such fascinating topics as Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, and the Mexican Day of the Dead. As an added bonus, Fodor's describes in depth four different scenic drives across this spectacular and varied country. In short: use Fodor's for the "get acquainted" portion of planning your trip planning, but buy another guide to fill in the details.
