Rating: Summary: Great travel Guide For Disney World Review: I recievd this book about three days ago. I must say that it is vastly improved when compared to the 1999 passporter. They have organized the restaraunt guides by the parks that they are at. They have ratings for the park attractions based on the author's opinions as well as the opinions of the park goers. The also have excellent overviews of Disney resorts along with resort area maps. The front and rear book covers have fold out maps, in color, as well as phone numbers to use while your at the parks. It also has information on the often overlooked behind the scenes tours offered at disney. Finally, this book has many more places to write your trip itinerary as well as pockets to keep important things, like plane tickets and park passes. While you are at the parks you can use these pockets to keep receipts and maps from the parks. If you are going to Disney this book is a must have.
Rating: Summary: Better than The Official Guides Review: I have to say that this is one of the better guides out there for travel to Walt Disney World. After using the original Passporter, I picked up a copy of the 2001 Passporter for an upcoming trip. The insightful information and the candidness of the information presented comes in an easy to read format that is good for both Disney novices and experts. Reading and having this guide with you will definitely keep you on the right course throughout your stay. It's quite a sturdy book - withstanding spills (whoops) fairly well. If I have only one concern about the the book it is about the construction of the book. It seems that sometimes the spirals slip a bit, and going page to page isn't as smooth as I'd prefer. However, this may be a fluke in this book itself, as my original passporter does not have this problem. For me, the best part about it is the large (and plentiful) pockets that come inside the passporter. It's roomy enough to hold tickets, itineraries, coupons, and more. Moreover, it is a great way for your family to write down a daily "journal" of what was done on what day - everything from memories and photos to meals and notes for next time. If you've ever wanted an interactive guide with plenty of room for you to add in notes about your trip to Walt Disney World in a compact package - this is definitely it. It's a great tool to get everybody who's going on the trip involved with the planning *and* the vacation itself.
Rating: Summary: Great for planning and taking to the parks Review: I compared this with Mini Micky, Tour Guide Mike (automated vacation planner), Birmbaum's guide and various other websites. I took all tour guide books with us on trip and ended up using the Passporter in the parks: very well organized, love the maps, suggested iteneraries and the pockets. On our first day out could not persuade family members to follow the suggested order of attractions: saw only three that day. Afterwards, followed Passporters suggestions with some modifications and averaged 6+ attractions, which was great since our party included a preschooler and grandma with dementia in wheelchair! I bought the spiral bound version: would recommend the deluxe version as you can take out the pages you don't need when you are visiting the parks and minimize bulk. I was able to store my copy safely in the stroller when visiting attractions. The pockets great for keeping reciepts, souvenir maps, etc. and make trip reports/ scrap booking really easy. I didn't think I would use them at first but once I started, I was hooked! Jennifer and Dave are making an even better version with post-it flags, color maps and other improvements for 2004. Can't wait to see the new version and to return to WDW to see what we missed!!!
Rating: Summary: THE book to buy if you are traveling to Disney World! Review: This is not just a book of all the facts and figures you might wonder about Disney World(though it is loaded with all sorts of information and reviews!) This book takes you step by step through the planning stages of your trip.It is meant to be used to plan your trip, then to be taken with you to help guide you through the trip. Besides providing information, it contains worksheets to help plan your vacation. There are sturdy yellow "pockets" in the back of the book that hold tickets, passes, maps, anything you might need. Each pocket is labeled for each day, and has a place on them to write down everything you need for the day (like confirmation numbers, activities planned, etc.) There are even spaces on the back of each pocket to record your memories of the day, your budget/expenses, even the photos that you took! So when you get home from your trip, your Passporter has gone from being your guidebook, to becoming your memory and scrapbook! The only mistake that I made was in not spending a little extra and buying the Deluxe version! And don't buy the 2000 version; the 2001 version is out!...
Rating: Summary: Fabulous, fabulous organizer! Review: Since I am a Disney junkie planning my latest pilgrimage I was browsing Amazon.com looking for new and interesting books. At first I thought this book was a bit expensive. I toyed with buying the wirebound version instead of the Deluxe binder bound organizer version. I am very glad I did finally get the Deluxe. I LOVE the way this is put together. In addition to the daily pockets to save things from the trip there are also other pockets inside the cover which I've been using to organize my notes, keep my travel club memberships handy, etc. I registered my copy at the Passporter website and mentioned that I had a small problem with part of the book which might have been defective. Within hours of registering I was advised by the authors that they would replace that item. I thought this was very good business practice, not to mention very generous of them! I'm so impressed I've already inquired as to when the next version will be released so I can order it ASAP! Readers will find lots of detailed, great information here - even the most jaded Disneyphile will learn stuff about the resort they didn't already know! Well worth the price!
Rating: Summary: Invaluable resource! Review: When I purchased the Passporter initially I had know idea how valuable it would be. It was a concise tour guide book and provided me with a way to manage all of our planning details as we prepared for our trip. The Passport pockets are an awesome way to keep track of confirmations, tickets, and receipts, and the maps and resort information are fabulous. Their website became my #1 source of information on making this the best trip ever. Hands down the best resource I've found!
Rating: Summary: Look No Further Review: You have found the perfect book to plan your wonderful trip to the happiest place on Earth. The detail is amazing. Each resort is given a six page lay out. You will see everything you need to see before getting there. The author's have a web site that can answer any question anyone can pose. The most up-to-date info can be found at that site.
Rating: Summary: The only guidebook you need to plan a trip to Disney World! Review: This is the BEST WDW guidebook I have ever owned, and I own them all! The detailed resort maps and restaurant descriptions alone are worth the price of the book. Jennifer and Dave are experienced WDW aficionados and IT SHOWS! The book is easy to read and hard to put down. It is witty and upbeat but still objective, lighthearted without being shallow, and comprehensive but not overwhelming. In short, it is the best investment you could make to help guarantee the best possible WDW visit.
Rating: Summary: Are they paid by Disney? Review: If you are hoping for a realistic view of Disney and the surrounding properties then this is not the book for you. If you are totally bought into the Disney scene and this is your 10th trip, then buy this book. I was looking for a book that would help me plan a first time trip to Disney. While this book offers several good tools to help plan and budget, it offers little advice about what really happens - lines, crowds, what to do when things go wrong. For example, how do you decide between an onsite property and a Disney property? Don't look in this book. Its advice is meager and mostly platitudes. Some of the "value add" the book claims such as its web site are dated. Of the web site pages that I viewed, some of the newest "tips" are several years old, and the format is awful. It's more marketing than substance. When reading the book, it feels like the writers are too caught up in the Disney mentality to see reality for the rest of the world. How about a book for people who are only going to vacation at Disney once or twice in a lifetime, not every year?
Rating: Summary: Best Trip Planner - Don't start planning 'till you get one Review: If you've never been to Disney World before, you really don't know what you're in for. This planner covers just about everything, and you really can't start planning too far ahead of time. I got about 6 books on WDW for 2002, and this one was far and away the best of them all. Some of the reservations you'll want to make start 120 days, or more, ahead of time. So, get the current copy of this planner as soon as it's available for the Trip Of A Lifetime. This has all of the phone numbers and contacts you'll need. It has maps and charts and all kinds of recomendations. And then there's the 'insider information' that really helps you get the most out of what can be a costly little trip. Discounts, offers and coupons in the book with the cost saver's tips can really help you save money, but you have to know about all this ahead of time. If you're planning a trip early in the year, get the last year's book, it'll help more than you can immagine.
