Summary: A good, basic, pocket-sized world atlas
Review: I am in the training department with my company and travel throughout the world. I wanted a basic travel atlas that I could take anywhere without taking up too much room (or being too heavy!).

This atlas provides me with the location of the major towns/cities, and with statistics on each country as to population, size, etc.

A good purchase for the price.

Summary: The New Signet World Atlas
Review: I am not satisfied this atlas as follows.

#1 This atlas indicates old city and town name for Greenland. Every Greenland city and town has European name and native name however it does not indicate native names. Currently native city and town names are officially names in Greenland.

#2 It does not indicate any town and city names for islands in Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean.

#3 It does not indicate town and city names in north polar area. For example there is no indication such like "Resolute Bay" in Canada. Resolute Bay has most north airport for airlines jetliners.

I think it should be listed for indication on such atlas at least all of cities or towns connecting with airlines.

I also think it should be listed boarder towns such like Mesai in Thailand and international pier such like Chan Saen in Thailand.

I hope next edition will be improve by the editor.

Review: I have grown to like this atlas more after using it, and have toned down my original review. Still not as good as the previous editions, but some things have improved. North America coverage is better, more extensive. The binding is still good (strings in the spine) so it wears well. The main thing I don't like about this edition is changes to the maps themselves. They are a little harder to read I feel. However, this new edition has some new sections which are nice: World Statistics (population, size, capitals); Climate maps; World Gazetteer (additional details about 30 countries; flag, government type, employment break down). The index is still very good, with over 11,000 entries. I would still suggest to get a copy of an older edition (in the Used section?). I have two previous editions; one from Prentice-Hall around 1983, the other by Penguin a little later.
