Rating: Summary: Loved it! But can see why others may not. Review: I enjoyed this book so much I had to force myself to put it down, as I did not want the enjoyment to end after one day. Instead, I stretched it out to three days...and after completion on the third day, I flipped to the front and read it again...start-to-finish...that very night. This wonderful, 'true' adventure is about a couple's experiences in the remote wilderness of northern British Columbia. It tells of why they left; how they lived; what they saw; what they did with their days; and most importantly (for me anyway) of why they'd do it again. This brings me to why some readers may not like it: - If you don't understand why two people would choose to leave the city and move to a remote land, full of cold, darkness, loneliness and Bears...then you won't enjoy this book as much as I did. You may (by that I mean 'it's possible') develop some understanding as to why the authors chose to live in the wilderness...but then again, you may not. For me, this was one of the greatest aspects of the book. The authors never try to justify why they went on this adventure. They told of their reasons and left it at that...leaving the reader to understand...or to read on, thinking 'Why would anyone...?' Either you 'understand', or you don't. I understood...and I loved it. But for those who don't...you just might stay that way!

Rating: Summary: glad I read this book Review: I love these kind of stories, because there true. this is a story in my opinion that was a huge gamble for the authors in every sense of the word. they gave up their jobs in the city of vancouver to live on a northern british columbia lake.they documented everything that they did and created this book.It makes me want to break out of my own life and do something like this. the authors of this book are not wild and crazy people they are normal down to earth people who have gone and done something that most of us would love to do. it,s full of great chapters with exciting stories of wild rapids, and wild animals, also long boring days that they hated but persivered through,a few mountain men with interesting stories I hope you enjoy this book and I hope my review was helpfull
Rating: Summary: If only I could... Review: This young couple undertakes what so many dream of doing... cutting themselves loose from the rat race of modern society, they head into the wilds of northern British Columbia to live a year in a log cabin. During this time, they encounter unforseen hardships, endure extremely cold and prolong winter weather, get into a few dubious predicaments, but in the end persevere and have an amazing experience. Will definitely read their other books.

Rating: Summary: Living out a Dream Review: What a great book! A once in a lifetime chance to live in the wilderness, commune with nature, and find what you are really made of. This couple is to be admired and encouraged to write many more books like this one. You feel as though you are with them every step. You can feel the cold in Winter, and the joy that Spring brings to all creatures. A must have for anyone who loves nature and adventure.
