Summary: You've got questions? This book has answers
Review: I mentioned to my priest the other day that I was going to Rome for Jubilee 2000. He told me that I should check out this book. I'm glad I did. This book has a ton of fascinating information about the major cathedrals, as well as the smaller churches in Rome. This book is a must read for anyone going to Rome for Jubilee 2000, or any other time.

Summary: Pilgrim's in Rome - Jubilee 2000
Review: This guide is prepared by the Vatican Comittee for the Great Jubilee of the year 2000, so you can feel confident that they know what they are talking about. This guide provides a brief historical look at Rome itself as well as historical and other interesting information about the major and many minor churches in Rome and Vatican City. The guide gives you info about fees, open and close times, and what transport to use - right down to which bus number or metro stop for a particular site. The guide also provides information about the catacombs, and provides limited maps for some of the sites it mentions. Maps are the only thing this guide is lacking, you should find a more detailed map before setting out on your pilgrimage, as you will need one to help negotiate the usually chaotic streets of Rome. The guide provides info about most of the major artwork one would like to find in the churches and catacombs, as well. One of the features a pilgrim might find nice is the "spiritual introduction" and "reflection" sections before each of the chapters.
