Summary: Breathless in Paris
Review: Although I enjoyed the book overall because I love Paris, I felt this was very poorly written. The author just tries too hard to grab your attention. In my opinion, the book is way over-priced for a large paperback; try to find it at your local library - it's worth a read, but I can't see myself reading it a second time.

Summary: Interesting tale but not well told

Summary: A Parisian's View of a Paeonian to Paris
Review: As a long time resident of Paris, I have read many books in which Americans discover what it means to live in Paris. Claire Kincannon's Paeonian to Paris is one of the best I have ever read, Why? Because Claire Kincannon brings a freshness and a sense of humor frequently aimed at herself as well as an observant understanding of the real differences between Paris and America. A must for anyone who has ever moved - or wanted to move to a different place.

Summary: Laughing in Sun Lakes
Review: Claire Kincannon's book is so entertaining!! I really enjoyed it. I can just see and hear her as she meets every new encounter in day-to-day Paris life. I was even laughing out loud in spots -- heaven knows, we need more of that. Read it. You'll laugh too.

Summary: Fast-paced tale of adjusting to and enjoying Life in Paris
Review: For all the people who can appreciate the joys of living in a foreign culture, the frustration of language barriers, and challenge of embracing it all with a great sense of humor - this book is for you. Readers are treated to a slew of hilarious and sometimes harrowing escapades, from boar-hunting in the French countryside to trying to buy a swimsuit in a Parisian boutique. A great read.

Summary: Miles of smiles for the weary traveler . . .
Review: I got a chance to start and finish "Paeonian to Paris" last week on a trip to the West Coast and back. I truly enjoyed the book and once I got past the fact that none of the characters would have names, found it excellent. I have to admit I had a little trouble at first with the way author, Claire Kincannon identified the characters(eg.Spouse and Monsieur Blue Eyes) but I really liked her style of writing and the describing of her experiences. The book was a pleasure to read and brought many a smile to a tired traveler.

Summary: A keen observer without slowing down!
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this discerning and very funny chronicle. Kincannon relates the trials and triumphs with an on-the-spot clarity as fresh as Garrison Keillor's observations about another "foreign" place. Her whimsical observations about "Spouse"--his different takes on the same things --brought me some self-recognition and should bring any wife plenty of knowing nods. Terrific read for anyone, essential before moving to Paris.

Summary: A delightful tale
Review: It may be similar to many an "everywoman's" experience whose husband's career has spirited his loving spouse to a different culture. But in "Paeonian to Paris," L. Claire Kincannon tells the story in such a delightful, entertaining and poetic way, you just want to read her tales over and over. You'll love it.
