Review: Having recently purchased a condo in Baja California, I have haunted the racks for useful books and other sources of information about an area of the world I find fascinating and inviting. Baja4You is the best of the bunch 4Me!Author Roberta Giesea provides all the basic information of a traditional guidebook, with the practical insights, humor and directness of a good friend...which is what this book has become. Since I have spent some time in Baja California Norte, I had many of my conceptions about the area confirmed in reading Baja4You. But it was comforting to see the information--along with historical references or local perspectives--there in black and white. The information is current, factual and easy to understand. You can use this book to plan a trip in advance, or take it along and explore as you go...either way, this book will prove useful. It also takes you through real estate transactions, cultural differences and how to handle them, getting medical attention if needed, and many other helpful subjects. And it is not just a list of contacts...after reading this, even if you don't have the book with you, you will have gained enough knowledge to solve many problems yourself. Giesea is generous with names, web sites and phone numbers, and often suggests that we tell them, "Roberta sent me...". If you are considering visiting short-term or longer-stays and will rely on only one book...this is the book.

Review: Having resided in Mexico over the years, I whole heartedly endorse Roberta's book for authentically describing life south of the border. Not only does she accurately explain the logistics of functioning once across the border, she fills each chapter with stories that only a long term resident would recognize as uniquely Mexican/gringo experiences. My Mexican brother-in-law and I (100% gringo) laughed so much as we read the stories during a recent road trip that it triggered memories of our families' hilarious adventures in Mexico over the last 15 years. Pack your bags! Baja4You is a real primer to take life easier in a land where you can rediscover the joy of living without sacrificing the proximity of U.S. interstates and metropolitan services. Don't miss this inspiring and very helpful travel guide.

Review: I have been traveling up and down the baja for more years than my old jeep, dog and I would like to admit to. I met Roberta on one of my junkets and she told me about the book she was completing at that time. Since then I have read it cover to cover and passed it on to many of my friends both in the states and several of those Canadian Snow Birds that invade the shore of Cabo San Lucas come the winter months... Her writing is to the point and filled with tons of fun little stories and insights. I highly recommend this book for any one who crosses the border into the magical lands of Baja, Mexico.... I for one keep it (the book) in my lock box along with the AAA bible...and dictionary. Happy adventuring to all....
