Rating: Summary: This book is an Anglophile and Tea Enthusiast's Dream! Review: Tea, sociology and history-all in one sitting! It doesn't get better and more interesting than in this book. Susan Cohen did a fantastic job with describing the various tea rooms throughout Britain, but I what I really enjoyed about this book was describes how she takes you through a "virtual time tour" of tea and the tradition of taking tea had such a huge impact on the traditions, mores and culture of Britain as well as other parts of Europe for centuries! It is amazing how a simple meal could make such a difference in people's lives. I especially enjoyed the parts about the tea dancing in the early part of the 20th century. Now that is one tea tradition I would love to see revived here in the US...so relaxing and romantic at the same time :) One more practical thing about this book: it tells which tea rooms are more relaxed and which are for making sure you are dressed up--very helpful for those tourists who tend to dress casually and don't wish to be embarrassed when arriving at a more 'toney' place. The photography and artwork in the book is top notch. It was all I could do to keep from going to the travel agency to purchase a one way ticket for "over there"--If and when I ever get to visit the "mother country" I will keep this book handy as my guide to enjoying the tea experience...but for now, this girl can at least read...and dream....*sigh*
