Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Great Bang for your Buck Review: The Random House Atlas of the World is nearly as good as the more popular World Atlases at only half the price. This paperback edition contains several nice features that make it a great choice for quick access, inexpensive world facts and info. Features: 30 page pictoral section covering the earth and Solar System, earth formation, global weather, population, religion and economic maps. The earth seperated into sections by continents (with the requisite images from space) , then by country, then by regions, with approx. one inch = 100 miles the smallest zoom area. 47 page index covering nearly all referenced data.On the negative side; the maps and images are continuous to the page gutters, thus making photocopying quite difficult. Pages are not tabulated, so browsing through the book is cumbersome. And most non-western countries' maps don't have state or district borders. In short, use it as a home reference book, don't expect to be able to travel with it.
