Summary: There just a bunch of Pansys wining
Review: Before this book, I wanted to take my kid to all the ballparks. But now I am thinking twice.

The author does little but whine about everything. His travelmate, the 60s/70s parks, the 80s parks, the 90s parks. The food. The few times he did not get free stuff. The times when he did get free stuff. I suspect that life is always half-empty for the author. And that is not the right person to write about such an event.

On second thought, I am going to take my kid to all the ballparks. Just so folks like the author don't spoil it for all of us.

Summary: Girls love baseball, too!
Review: Bought this book for my son's 10th birthday, along with several other baseball books. This summer, he'd spent some time traveling through Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan with my brother, and they saw ballgames at five different major league stadiums. So I figured it might appeal.

It was an immediate hit. The child curled up in a corner of the couch with it and didn't move for the next hour. Every so often, he would burst out laughing and share passages with me. Later in the afternoon, I saw him out riding his scooter, clutching this book in his hand as he headed down the street to track down his brother.

My son is an avid reader who has no trouble with adult-level material. (I have degrees in library science and journalism, and work in online media. This house is awash in books and magazines.) But from volunteering in the schools, I know that many boys this age are reluctant readers. There's a world of sports books out there that may well capture the interest of young fans.

Don't immediately head for the children's section. Pick an appropriate sports book -- peruse the top sellers -- from the adult choices. Even if the child doesn't dive right in, odds are he (or she) will flip through, look at pictures and read photo captions, maybe spend some time on chapters of particular interest. Many childrens' sports books are boring to serious fan-type children because they contain only limited information that the kid already knows. For example, some kids are obsessed with baseball history, statistics, sports stadiums, etc., to an extent that will not be satisfied by a few simple facts.

If completely stumped for ideas, try a sports almanac -- ESPN and Sports Illustration put out inexpensive paperback editions. Many kids will keep something like this near their beds and browse each night before falling asleep.

Summary: Fantasy Fulfillment out of the ballpark!
Review: Brad and Dave did what many of us dream about doing. This book hit a "home run" with me and I recommend it to any and all fans of America's favorite pastime. It would make a great movie!

Summary: not just for baseball fans
Review: I bought this book for my husband who is a true baseball fan, but I ended up reading the whole thing through for myself before I gave it to him. The humorous stories of the boys' trip are not just for baseball fans to enjoy, and I could even appreciate what they had to say about the stadiums. I particularly liked the "homage" to Tiger Stadium. It made me wish that I could have seen it. the book is also nicely structured so that you can skip over the ballpark overviews if you want to get on with the story.

Review: I bought this book to take along on a 10-day beach vacation. It was a great choice! I have been a fan of baseball since my dad first took me to Dodgers Stadium when I was four. I travel frequently with my job and try to visit the ballpark (major or minor league) in each town I visit (11 down 19 to go). I found Brad and Dave's adventure very exciting and enlightening. Brad's way with words was wonderful and his descriptions of the ballparks were right on in my opinion although I thought he was a little harsh on Turner Field home of my beloved Braves. I'm sending this book to my 19-year-old nephew in hopes that he and his baseball-obsessed best friend might try this when they graduate from college in a few years. Maybe they'll ask me to be the "third rider" on their trip.

Summary: If you don't have this book, you don't love baseball
Review: I have been a baseball fan for my whole life, and I can honestly say that this is the book I have waited for my whole life. Null's razor sharp narration, the witty banter between good friends, and a crystal clear feeling of actual presence in the ballparks they describe almost brought me to tears. It is clear that baseball needed this book. America needed this book. I have rediscovered my passion for the greatest game ever, and I owe it all to the vision and dedication of the authors.

Summary: A terrific baseball park bible
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was difficult to put it down and I found it not only very informative but extremely entertaining as well. I often found myself smiling as the author told of various personal tales that occurred between the two friends as they trekked their way across the USA. This is a MUST book for anyone planning to visit any ballpark to know what to see and also what to avoid. The difference in this book and other ballpark books is that this one was truly written through the eyes of two dyed-in-the-wool baseball fans and it so very, very personal and sincere. It is not just a book of statistics and facts, but so much more.

Summary: A baseball fan's ballpark bible!
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this gem of a baseball park review book. It is so much more than mere statistics and data, as it gives a fresh personal perspective to each park. I am now more enthused than ever about taking such a trip to all of the baseball parks - but no way in just 38 days like these two enthusiasts did! You will not want to put this book down! Well written and peppered with humor, too.
