Summary: An excellent true crime
Review: I'm not a big reader, especially in true crime, but I liked not only the story in An Hour To Kill but the authors, Hudson and Hills, as well. This is the kind of book one can really enjoy, minus all the cliches and pop-psychology other true crime writers add in. I don't care for all the lenghty biographies on the victims and murderers, the cops and lawyers. As Joe Friday would say, "Give me just the facts, mam." You get the facts and a well-researched and written story with An Hour To Kill, and that is why I give it 5 stars!

Summary: A 5 Star True Crime Book
Review: This is a very sad and tragic story, but I enjoyed reading it. My family and I ride through this area on our way to vacation at Myrtle Beach every summer. Conway, South Carolina, is like many small towns in America, which are comprised of hard working, God fearing, middle-income families who are trusting individuals. This is why the police and community members were shocked to believe anyone living in Conway would want to murder someone like Crystal Todd. To everyone's dismay, Kenneth Register was a wolf lurking in sheep's clothing. Although he had behaved inappropriately in the past, no one, including his own family, had any idea he could be capable of this sadistic murder. While in Myrtle Beach, I happened to stumble in on a book-signing by Dale Hudson and Billy Hills, and found them to be very charming and personable. I started reading the book the same day and finished it on my way home to West Virginia. The book is very well-written and turned an otherwise long and tedious trip into a delightful one. My husband even asked me to read it out loud to him so he could enjoy it. We both highly recommend An Hour To Kill!!

Summary: Superb True Crime Book. Top of the League.
Review: An Hour To Kill was one of the best true crime books I have ever read. It was hard for me to believe Johnnie Kenneth Register was so young, yet filled with so much rage where he would kill his trusting friend. The authors style of writing is a nice change from most of the other true crime books out today. The book was so interesting I read it in two nights. I was fascinated with the detective work, the criminal profiler, and the prosecuting attorneys as they worked day and night to put the puzzle together to convince a jury this baby-faced boy was really a sadistic monster. I have recommended this book to our book club for discussion next monthy. We are all excited about reading a top-notched true crime story.

Summary: Below average true crime book
Review: I'm really surprised by the high rating of this book. I think it was one of the least memorable of the true crime genre that I've ever read. Why? Because the victim and the killer were both so young and had not lived much of a life yet, that there was not much to say about either of them. I felt like I never got a good sense of them and that is important in this kind of book. The book also was very repetitive. Also, there really was no thrilling detective or legal work done here. The only realy evidence found was DNA evidence. And throwing the info in at the very end about Ken's other crimes was jarring. It may be good to surprise the jurors but don't surprise the readers with facts that should have been brought out earlier. Basically I had to force myself to finish this - it is nowhere in the same league as truly great true crime books like Helter Shelter, Fatal Vision, And the Sea Will Tell and The Stranger Beside Me.

Summary: A Must Read For Every True Crime Reader
Review: I can't help it, but after reading this book I think about Crystal Todd almost every day. Hudson and Hills did an excellent job of telling the story. I felt as if I was right there along with the police trying to figure out if Ken was the real killer, or not. I am convinced Ken did kill Crystal, but I am wondering if he has ever admitted to killing her? If he ever felt any remorse for what he did? If his parents and supporters ever changed their minds? I wish I could find an update on these

questions. I even went to the author's website but didn't find it there. My prayer is that Bonnie Faye Todd will be able to get over the nightmare and horror Ken Register has put her through and live a normal life again.

Summary: What Gives Here?
Review: It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out after reading all the evidence against Ken Register that he was guilty. How much more do you need when you've got his confession and a DNA match. Both of these should have nailed his coffin shut. I don't understand why Register didn't get the death penalty, given what sentence he had handed to Crystal Todd. Any young person who would do what he did to Crystal deserves to be put to death. Register is one sick individual. This book was very interesting and well-written, and the first I have read by these authors. But, I can say for certain it won't be my last.

Summary: An Hour to Kill
Review: I read A Reason to Live first, but stated I'd read anything that they write and they lived up to my expectations. They make you feel like you have entered all these people's lives and that you are part of them. I don't understand so many feeling Ken Register was innocent........I hope he stays in prison so this won't happen again! This book should be rated 5 stars among anyone who reads it. It sure makes you think alot more about everyday life and what can happen.

Summary: Hudson and Hills Are Excellent Writers
Review: This book is a real find for True Crime buffs. Dale Hudson and Billy Hills are very skilled at writing the craft. An Hour To Kill is dramatic, suspenseful, and reads like a novel. Unlike many true crime books I read, I found very little material here that wasn't relevant to the story. They didn't waste time on heavy background of the material, long and laborious descriptions and a history of the town, or give us ten chapters of court information. These guys really did their homework. I just hope they stick with true crime and don't jump ship like a lot of other authors have done and start writing fiction.

Summary: 5 Stars to Hudson and Hills
Review: Wonderful book. Well researched and written. Ken Register was a good boy gone bad. My prayer is that somehow Bonnie Faye Todd will find peace and closure to this tragic day in ther life. Even though An Hour To Kill was a nightmare of a story, I liked the book a lot. I can't think of many books that I have read lately where once I started reading I could not put it down. After I finish this review, I am going to order their new book, A Reason To Live. I don't normally buy hardbacks, but I

gotta have this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Never Trust Anyone, Even Your Best Friend
Review: ....Ken Register was a monster hiding behind a baby face, just waiting to prey on some innocent victim. Had it not been Crystal, it could have been anyone. I feel so bad for Crystal's mother, her daughter's death was so cruel and unnecessary. For those who like true crime stories, Dale Hudson and Billy Hills wrote one heck of a thriller, correctly capturing the emotions and reactions of the community toward their "hometown" murderer. I must admit, after reading my last two true crime books, I had given up on the genre. It is refreshing to see this new talent in Hudson and Hills and to know they are writing more true crime books. If their next ones are as good as An Hour To Kill, then they've got me as a fan.
