Summary: Excellent writing!
Review: Although a fan of Rick's public television show, I wasn't sure what to expect from this book since it's a bit of a break from his regular guidebooks. I was very pleasantly surprised! Rick has a dry and sophisticated sense of humor that I found quite amusing. His descriptions about the various characters he has met in his travels are really entertaining.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Entertaining
Review: Although a touch maudlin at times, this is an entertaining travelogue that gives the reader far more insight into Rick Steves than do his travel guidebooks. It's heartening to know that even "the guru" has doubts, fears and misgivings when he travels in Europe.

Summary: For Die Hard Fans ONLY
Review: As a travel guide writer, Rick offers folksie homespun advice for novice travellers, which is fine, but as a humourist he fails miserably. This is like reading someones random thoughts on their favourite places, past experiences and family life. He is all over the place, literally, straining to make the mundane amusing. For die hard Steve's fans only!

Summary: Memorys of 7th grade by a freshman
Review: I remember back in 7th grade geography we used to be forsed to watch his show. Some of them were intertaining, but others, just scared me!! All and all it was a good show. Exspecialy for Geography. I just might have to get these for my teacher!!:-)

Summary: A seasoned traveler gets new ideas
Review: If you have been to Europe 5 or 6 times, feel as if you've "seen it all", and want to discover a renewed interest, by all means read this book! Rick takes us on an adventure in Europe that gave me all sorts of new ideas for my own trips. Because after all, Europe is more than just a list of sites (Eiffel Tower, Tower of London, St. Peter's, etc.) that the tourist needs to "check off". Europe is it's people...and the experiences one can have while getting to know another culture!

Rick...I just gotta see the Tippelzone though....that was a new one one me!

Summary: THIS BOOK IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE ON THEIR WAY EUROPE OR THERE
Review: THIS BOOK IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE ON THEIR WAY EUROPE OR THERE OR JUST GOT BACK FROM EUROPE, NOT FOR PEOPLE YOU ARE JUST WISHING TO GO THERE OR ARM CHAIRS READERS

This book was too simply boring. I hope he does this project, plus with his family included and tons of big pictures with this too. Thank you.

Summary: (singing) "The Hills Are Alive With Rick Steve's Musings..."
Review: We enjoy independent European Travel and leap across the ocean as frequently as we can. Rick's books are helpful although he is remains opinionated and upfront, we enjoy that. This book is a wandering account of his quarter century of travel to the "old country" which he continually makes fresh and alive. But, for historical information and details, we tote along a "Blue Guide."Perhaps the best service he encourages is this---travel is not just experiencing the past, but making international friends along the way
