Summary: THE new American classic!
Review: Read it and you'll never forget it. A hundred years from now, this book will stand by Huckleberry Finn as the greatest of American novels. Yes, novels. Although a memoir, its structure is the same as a novel and Hickam gives us unforgettable characters in unforgettable situations. Sit down with this book but plan for a long stay in your easy chair. It's very difficult to put down.

Summary: Prodigious, wonderful, magnificent!
Review: I like so many others picked this book expecting little and ended up reading it from cover to cover without much of a break. I agree with a reviewer below. When all the other books of this age - Angela's Ashes, Oprah's Books, etc. - are long forgotten, people are going to be studying this book around the world as representative of all that was once great about America and Americans. I hope Mr. Hickam continues to write forever. I'll never miss another one of his books.

Summary: Incredible!
Review: It has been a long time since I have found a book that is as much a joy to read as this one. Once I started I could not put it down. It tugs at your heartstrings, bringing tears of joy and sadness at times. Everyone should read this book if not for its inspirational value and vision, then for the sheer entertainment of the story itself. WONDERFUL!

Summary: A wonderful book from a wonderful friend!
Review: Homer Hickham has done a wonderful thing. He has captured the essence of post-war America and condensed it into a wonderous, and factual tale about his childhood. A REAL story needed to be told, and he has done without question. I firmly believe that Homer Hickham has set a new standard for authors to live up to. I feel honored to know Homer as an author and most importantly as a friend. I suggest this book to everyone looking for a truly moving experience, as it evokes emotions, thoughts and feelings that transcend age and educational boundries! Homer Hickam, I applaud you! Thanks for everything.

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST
Review: A terrific treat for readers of all ages. I was spellbound with the magnificent imagery and beautiful storytelling of Hickam. The characters were so vivid and real and the noble quest of the Rocket Boys will stay in my memory for many years. I don't think anyone will be disappointed in this book.

Summary: Inspiration was never better written
Review: What a superb way to wrap up the millenium. I read this book thinking it would chronicle Homer H. Hickam, Jr.'s career with NASA. Instead, it gave me an even bigger suprise - inspiration. His memoir of the trials, tribulations and joys that comprised his boyhood "rocket-making" adventures reads better than any inspirational story I've ever read. Yes, Mr. Hickam freely admits that some poetic license was used, but that did nothing to detract from the story or its focus: you can do whatever you put your mind to! If you want a great pick-me-up to kick-start your entry into the next millenium, then this book's for you. It may look like a thick book, but it's a wonderfully easy and fast-flowing read.

Summary: Making Dreams Come True
Review: This last summer I read Rocket Boys expecting it to be just another story about some guy. But it was so much more than that. I am seventeen years old and have been inspired by this book to continue my pursuit in satisfying my thirsts for space, rockets and anything related to it. The book made me laugh, it made me cry and I was absolutely addicted to it. I believe I finished it in a day or two at the most. After every chapter I had to run out into the living room to tell my mom what had happened to Homer now. Before this, my favorite book was Charles Dicken's, Great Expectations. But Rocket Boys has completely replaced it! I get to build a rocket for my Physics class and I reading the book over and over for motivation! Don't simply watch the movie because they leave Billy and I beileve it is Sherman, out. Read the book. It is over a thousand times better. And Homer, thank you for your inspiration and you have become one of my heroes!

Summary: Prodigous!
Review: The best book I ever read, and probably will ever read! Outstanding! Probably the best book of the millenium!

Summary: 5 stars are not enough!
Review: Do I have to say more about my real favorite novel? Homer H. Hickam Jr has an incredible gift in portraying stories!

Summary: It will become one of the 20th Century's greatest books
Review: I teach American and English Literature and I predict that long after "Angela's Ashes" and all the other ilk of the day are long forgotten, this book will live on. I believe it will be listed in the future as one of the 20th Century's greatest American books. Homer Hickam has captured the essence of America as no other book has since "Huckleberry Finn." I am in awe of his talent.
