Summary: Not what I thought
Review: I bought this book as a gift for someone who asked for it, but I looked through it first. I expected cupids and overly cute things, but the authors have a real sense of humor and appreciate the potential romantic qualities of a wide range of otherwise cool things to do. I think it's just a great guidebook of fun things to do in North Carolina, romantic or not ... in the eyes of the beholder, I guess. But, if you're going to NC, or live there, take a look at it.

Review: Romantic North Carolina is good fun for lovers and others seeking adventures off the beaten path in such a beautiful state. The authors are savvy about their topic and include vivid site descriptions and a vast amount of resources on North Carolina. The book is exceptionally well-designed and will be a handsome and helpful addition to travel collections.

Summary: Informative and Fun
Review: The book is informative and fun. The authors divide the chapters by types of activities (i.e. arts, active, spectator sports) which is helpful. Additionally, each activity is specified by geographic location (mountains, piedmont, coastal plain). I think this book would be especially nice for a wedding or anniversary gift for a couple living in North Carolina.

Summary: Not just for Tar Heels --An idea book for lovers everywhere!
Review: When we began researching ROMANTIC NORTH CAROLINA, our greatest challenges were deciding what's romantic and choosing just 300 items to include in the book from among the thousands of possibilities in the state. To meet the first challenge, we surveyed friends, relatives, colleagues, and some pure strangers, to find out what they thought was romantic. That's why our book has entries ranging from the symphony to ice hockey, from tandem biking along the beach to taking dance classes together.Narrowing down the choices was even harder. Almost every city had a studio offering dance classes and at least one upscale restaurant suitable for a romantic dinner. In a state with glorious mountains and white sand beaches, secluded country inns abound. So we began thinking of ROMANTIC NORTH CAROLINA as an idea book for lovers. On every page, couples who are in a rut will find ideas for romantic outings, including winery tours, scuba diving lessons, cooking classes, scenic routes for drives and bike rides, even strolls in picturesque cemeteries. We encouraged couples use our suggestions to prime their own imaginations and to create their own romantic outings. So even if you're not a Tar Heel-or not planning a visit to our wonderful state-our book will still provide you with a wealth of romantic possibilities that you can explore
