Rating: Summary: All Aboard! Review: A Black owned cruise line catering to African Americans setting sail on it's maiden voyage, serves as the setting of Marissa Monteilh's latest literary offering, The Chocolate Ship. The story focuses on a group of friends that have all decided to cruise the high seas in style on this brand new ship that is likened to a "Black Love Boat." While at sea the characters experience new love, lust, friendship and betrayal during the seven day cruise none of them will ever forget. The concept behind this story was nice, but I felt that the book fell short due to lack of adequate character development. Since the history of the characters was either omitted or glossed over, I never understood what motivated the characters to behave as they did. Additionally, there were too many primary characters and with character development and backstory lacking, I found myself having a hard time telling the characters apart. I never felt any sort of connection to any of the characters and this really took away from the story. I enjoyed the unexpected surprises in the plot but I felt the story was a bit too rushed and simply tried to cover too much ground. In spite of my problems with the book, I did find myself wanting to read until the end. This book is sure to spark some interesting discussions. Reviewed by Stacey Seay The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

Rating: Summary: i love it!! Review: at first when i started reading this book i thought it would really disappoint me. But when i really started reading it, i couldn't for the life of me, put the book down. I just loved it. Even though i didn't like when kelly (one of the characters) left her husband for another woman. Other then that, i loved this book and i'm looking forward to read her other books.
Rating: Summary: Fun In The Sun Review: I don't care what anyone says about this book, it was an excellent read. The way the author describes the ship is wonderful especially for those who have never been on a cruise ship before. Miles was immature, but came around towards the end. Why Mia puts up with his nonsense was a question I had in the back of my mind. But when you love someone, that love can make you do some real stupid things. I truly believe there should be a sequel. I want to know more about the captian and the cruise director. Also, do Mia and Miles last?

Rating: Summary: Set Sail Review: I enjoyed the book. Mia and Miles have been in a relationship for 3 years and in her mind the relationship is not going where she feels it should be. Miles seems to avoid commitment like it's a plauge, will the adventures of the cruise be enough to show him what he has in Mia or will it take another man that's after Mia's attention to open his eyes.
Rating: Summary: Fun, hip and modern take on "The Love Boat." Review: I found this book to be a fun, dishy, sexy read - perfect for summer. Based on the other reviews I've scanned here, not sure what other readers were expecting. "Mutiny on The Bounty" or "Titanic" perhaps? Lighten up, people. When I read the cruise ship concept I figured it would feature vignettes of different characters (like the old TV show) and not just a deep character study of one or two. There's plenty of snappy dialogue that made me laugh and kept me turning pages. And just the right amount of steamy sex. I felt the sway of the ship, smelled the ocean water and was awed by the ethnic majesty and opulence of the ship. Her lush, detailed description swept me way and took me there. Based on the cover's promises, I think this author more than delivered.
Rating: Summary: Too Much Review: I like to applaud those that take a step out on faith to do something that they really enjoy, but this book is a bit much. I feel as if I wasted the 13.95 that I spent on it. There was just entirely too much detail for my taste. No connecting storyline between the characters and not enough interesting dialogue. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: A good read Review: I really enjoyed reading "The Chocolate Ship". It was good reading from beginning to end. I enjoyed reading about the characters and also the relationships between them. Having just come from a cruise, it was nice to read about how exciting a cruise can be!!!
