Review: That this book is so funny, it's a good book to read even if you're not going on a cruise? Fantastic, Pam! Blazin' fantastic!

Summary: Refer to this book early and often!
Review: The first time I went on a cruise it was with two experienced cruisers who took me by the hand, answered my questions and made sure my cruise was wonderful. But what if I didn't have such handy mentors? I could have reached for Pam Kane's Cruise Control.

Where else could I learn so much about packing, being onboard, dealing with unpleasant tablemates, even organizing things in the tiny cabins.

From now on, this book goes with me on any and all cruises.

Summary: Everything you always wanted to know about cruising
Review: The irrepressible author finds all those nagging little questions about what to wear, how much to tip, where to find the shopping bargains, what to say when you meet the Captain and answers them with verve and style, and enough humor to make even the most timid cruiser confident and comfortable.

If you want the lowdown on what's in store for you on your first cruise, or if you're a veteran cruiser looking for ways to make the whole adventure even more enjoyable, this is the book for you. Kane is knowledgeable and experienced, and willing to share what she knows. If there is anything wrong with the book, it's not long enough. I wanted to hear more about the author's adventures.

Summary: More bang for your buck.
Review: This author knows exactly what she's doing about travel, especially packing and cruises. Well worth the price, this book is a great gift. I read her for years on the old Prodigy AFLOAT BB. She is great. (I'm not getting paid to write this.)

Summary: Cruising made easy
Review: This is a great book especially for first time "cruisers." She explains EVERYTHING from packing, shore excursions, money exchanging, etc. --all those things that one can become stressed about especially if this is your first cruise. If you are not a first time "cruiser," this book is worth the price alone for just the information you gain to help you save on your next cruise. Best of all... it is fun reading.

Summary: Everything you wished you'd known before you cruised
Review: This is an indispensable book for anyone--and I do mean anyone--who is going on a cruise. First timers to frequent cruisers will enjoy this book, and learn something valuable from it that they can apply to their next voyage.

Kane's chapters cover everything from buying clothes to packing them properly, what you should do during your first few hours on board, how to respond to invitations to dine with the captain, food on board, and proper treatment of the ship's staff.

I learned the most from the packing section--always my week point--which sets out in marvelous (and humorous!) detail when you should start packing (2 days before), why you need a bunch of electric cable controllers (better security than padlocks on your luggage), the "secrets of the great tote" (how to include everything in your carry on that you will want in the first few hours), and much, much more.

Her tips for the first few hours on board are also EXACTLY right based on my experience.

This is a smallish book that you would want to buy for yourself or someone else at least a few weeks before you leave so that you have time to read it, digest it, pack your stuff, and have a wonderful time! Then, you won't have to take it with you (leaving more room in your suitcases...)

Summary: A regular cruiser from Lafayette, CA
Review: Those of you who have been fortunate enough to be frequent readers of Prodigy's Travel Bulletin Boards have seen many postings by the author of this book. Pamela is known for her witty outlook on the vagaries of travel, especially on cruise ships. She has brought her many years of experience into print for all of us.

If you're new to cruising this book will tell you just about everything you need to know about the subject. If you're an old hand you'll chuckle and nod as Pamela covers situations which we've all encountered.

Where was this book when we needed it?

Summary: Never Taken a Cruise? READ THIS!
Review: Useful, step-by-step guide to getting the most out of your cruise expierience. Not about cruise lines or itineraries, more of a FAQ describing what to bring, how to pack, what to expect, unusual situations, etc.

Not a lot of material but what there is, is "cherce".
