Review: I'm preparing to move to North Carolina, and I thought this book delivered on its promise: a solid introduction to the state. It is a quick read through a variety of topics, including geography, history, politics, sports, travel, entertainment, famous events, and even taxes and motor vehicle laws.

If you have time to read only one book, I think this is it. Just don't expect the best travel guide, a complete guide to the golf courses, or a complete history of the state.
