Summary: Back Seat
Review: I really enjoyed this book. I bought the book because I'm interested in old FJ40's, but this book was a great adventure book - a tale that no words could possibly describe. However, it was a fun read, as you felt like you may have been in the backseat while the other drove you around the world.

Summary: Wonderful Book
Review: I started this book with a little hesitation, but after only a few pages I was hooked! Between the planning and the misfortune, you kept wondering, "What will happen next?" and whatever you think of is mild compared to what happens. I liked everything about it from the historical events in our lifetime, to the descriptions of the geology in all of the different parts of the world. The different customs throughout the world that we might have thought no longer existed are still there. I learned that no matter how much things change, things still remain the same. Even though it is a "guy book", as a woman it truly held my interest on a number of levels. I would highly recommend it to anyone as a fun, frolic through our world and our own belief systems.

Summary: They're Back!
Review: I'm so excited that this book is back in print! My husband and I read it in the early 70's and I can't actually remember if we bought our Toyota Land Cruiser before or after we read it! In those days the Land Cruiser was an economical car to buy, but I understand they cost the earth today! I have not re-read the book since then, but it is intersting to me that I still remember several of the scenes, mostly harrowing ones, to this day. The one that really stands out is one where they get up at night in the desert somewhere and have their bodies sliced by some kind of flying noctural crab spider or something. Yikes! Now remember I read this 30 years ago and I STILL remember parts! Didn't they have to carry tons of toilet paper to promote Scott Paper or some such? Anyway, I think all the horrible parts were nicely balanced by the funny bits. I am ordering a copy tonight to give to my husband for our 35th wedding anniversary this year. Oh and our Toyota? Sadly we sold it years ago, but it did take us all over including being our transportation for our four year stay in Alaska during the pipeline days....the stories that Toyota could probably tell by now.

Summary: a hair-raising adventure for anyone who just loves suspense
Review: Loved this book the first two times I read it in the seventies and this new publication is just as much fun the third time around. It is suspenseful (will they make it?) and has just enough romance so that WOMEN can find it exciting and wonder, "could I have gone along?" I'm probably too sissy, but I love you guys for doing it. You are men's men and definitely women's men! What an adventure to remember always.

Summary: realistic, frank and yet enjoyable
Review: One of the best travel books: realistic, frank, yet thoroughly enjoyable. No phony romanticism there, just the real romance of a bunch of brave, travel-crazy guys meeting various peoples and their difficult climes.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A First rate adventure, involving and thrilling.
Review: This "last drive" is a first rate read. You share every colorful, exciting, crazy adventure with these two likeable authors, as if you were with them. The writing is crisp, clean and riveting. Why Hollywood hasn't made this into a film or TV mini is a real mystery. And, most amazingly, the places they visited haven't changed; their past becomes your present.

Summary: A fabulous book on non-stop adventure !!
Review: This is a book on a truly amazing adventure that is virtually reading at it`s best . The author tells it like it is and puts the reader right in the seat next to him on the intire trip . This author has a way of of maintaining a " can`t put the book down " relation with any of the readers caught up in the story . At times it`s almost un-believeable until you realize this is a TRUE story . It`s adventure , humor , heartbreak , and just plain great reading!!

Summary: 2 guys, a Land Cruiser, and a trip around the world!
Review: This is a great adventure book. I picked it up and could not put it down. I finished the book in two days. It was that good. Full Disclosure: I own a Land Cruiser FJ40 like they drive in the book so that is why I originally got it. However, I have lent the book to non owner friends and everyone has loved it. Buy this book now!
