Review: Washington D.C. is a great destination and the key to exploring this great area is in having a great guide. I highly recommend this guide for any city, and the DC area is no exception. The guide is well put together and gives you all the information you need about safety, general information, transportation and full color pictures throughout the book to help you choose the sites that will interest you the most. It is a small guide but it is packed with information. Read it before your trip and then make your list of places to see- one "A" list of things that you MUST see, and the "B" list of those items you'd like to see. Plan well ahead, as you will have many options when you get there. We spent much of our time in the mall area, which has the Capitol, The White House, Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial and the fabulous Smithsonian Museums. Plan to spend plenty of time at the museums. We had to narrow it down to two museums and hit the Air & Space Museum and the American History Museums, but would have liked to see more, the museums are wonderful and are not to be missed. Stay on the beaten track and do not drive into DC, as this will be a frustrating adventure that you will have wished you hadn't started. Public transportation is clean and reliable in getting to the other areas of DC. Plan ahead with the DC guide and you will be assured a wonderful trip!
