Review: Irfan's first book Portrait of a Turkish family tells of his life in a well to do family and it's horrible struggle to survive after the end of the Ottoman Empire. Caravan is a sweeter travelogue sort of tale...a man looking for a bit of himself in a country no longer his.... Please do read both if you have an interest in the Ottomans and Turkish life.
