Rating: ![0 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-0-0.gif) Summary: Association of Bridal Consultants recognizes Carrington Review: The Association of Bridal Consultants recently recommended Jackie Carrington's latest book, Romantic Wedding Destinations (Innovanna, $24.95), for its in-depth coverage of one of the hottest trends in the wedding marketplace -- destination weddings. Rising wedding costs and geographically dispersed families are leading many to marry away from their home town. Couples can keep guest lists to a reasonable size by moving weddings out of town, while providing a neutral ground for families and guests to enjoy. Today's couples are also looking for unique and personal ways to exchange or renew vows, whether they choose to tie the knot on a secluded beach, aboard a majestic yacht, on a scenic mountaintop, in a hot air balloon, a historic chapel, or even underwater. As Carrington reflects, "it's one of the most important events in your lifetime and you want it to be memorable." According to Eileen Monaghan, Vice President of the Association of Bridal Consultants, Romantic Wedding Destinations is "an invaluable resource for brides, giving you details and leaving more time for the romance." Open this 152-page guide to any page and you will become acquainted with popular and exotic getaways throughout the continental U.S., Hawaii, Bermuda and the Caribbean. Included are many helpful planning tips for the 'weddingmoon', a directory of full-service wedding professionals who specialize in unique destination weddings, and current marriage license requirements and important contacts for each locale.

Rising wedding costs and geographically dispersed families lead many to opt for these so-called honeymoon weddings. Couples keep guest lists manageable by moving weddings out of town, while providing a neutral ground for families and guests to enjoy. No doubt, the most compelling reason for destination weddings is the romantic element of traveling to a faraway location to celebrate one of the most intimate events of a lifetime. Today's couples are looking for unique and personal ways to exchange or renew vows, without all the stress

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This best guide to destination weddings Review: This is the best book for uncovering and discovering non-traditional wedding ideas. The extensive research that Jackie Carrington did on the subject simplifies an otherwise overwhelming event! The book is well-written and provides relevant and useful information such as, obtaining a marriage license, actual phone numbers, wedding consultants, travel tips and more. Romantic Wedding Destinations is a great book to buy if you're planning a wedding or know someone who needs a little wedding guidance!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Disappointingly Lacking Review: Unfortunately, this book is little more than a compilation of legal requirements for marriage in different places (easily obtainable). The bulk of the book is dedicated to US locations, with a few mentions of other countries. I was planning a destination wedding in Europe (Spain or Italy), and was terribly disappointed to find the only European reference was the UK. I was also expecting a guide in terms of possible ceremony sites and descriptions, but the "guide" merely offers a brief description of the region, climate chart, how to get there, and other travel/regional information that I could also obtain easily elsewhere. Yet no mention of local wedding traditions, for example. Some of the sections contain one or two local wedding services, not very helpful for me. I found all the info I needed to plan our wedding and honeymoon in Florence, free on the web. I recommend instead "The Good Honeymoon Guide : Includes Where to Get Married Abroad" by Lucy Hone, which I found to be a very pleasurable read as well as inspirational (helped me to decide on Italy, although Bora Bora looks really nice). Lucy Hone's book was very informative & descriptive about specific locations and their ceremony offerings, with a great variety of locations around the world (and photos). I also liked "100 Best Romantic Resorts of the World" by Katharine Dyson, but not nearly as much.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Couldn't have done it without Review: We weren't sure where to get married and didn't know the first thing about how to plan a wedding away from home. This book told us everything we needed to know: travel packages, legal requirements, foreign travel, tips for creating romantic moments, ways to avoid stressful situations, who to call, and even those places that are just for lovers! If you are planning a wedding away, I wouldn't be without this book!
